Are there any good cheap eats in Las Vegas? There used to be all kinds of them, but the last time I was there, didn't find any.

I know Fern usually has good recommendations - did you try using the search function as I am sure she has posted before.

OK...you going to have a car or not? It makes a difference. Without a car, besides Ellis Island you could go to Chipolte Grill on The Strip just North of Harrah's. "Fresh Mex" soft tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, and salads. You walk a line and tell them what you want and they make it in front of you. Its very healthy and inexpensive. There is a Mickey D's next door.
The coffee shop in Harrah's has inexpensive food. You can get a huge salad, meal size for about $10., or my favorite, their blackened prime rib sandwich.
In Treasure Island there is a Canter's Deli. Again you have to walk a line to order, but then they bring it to you. Some of the best pastrami around, also about $10., or a "meal" with french fries or cole slaw and a fountain drink for about $13. They also have Dr. Brown's sodas.
If you have a car, then there are a lot more choices. Village Pub on East Flamingo is a neighborhood place, owned by the Ellis Island folks. They have great fish and chips for about $7. (3 pieces of fish) or daily specials for between $5 and $10. Huge Portions. Off the menu steak and eggs for breakfast is a 7 ounce Steak and 2 eggs, home fries and toast for $5-6. or so.
There are a bunch of chain places in front of the Outlet mall on Las Vegas Blvd. just south of Warm Springs.
South Point Casino has a good Coffee Shop, which serves Chinese food from 11 Am to 5 AM as well. There is also an inexpensive Mexican Restaurant, and the buffet is very reasonable.
The buffet at Orleans is also good and reasonable (not gourmet, but very edible). Downtown I'd recommend Main Street Station's buffet.
I would *not* recommend the cheaper Strip buffets, Sahara, Tropicana, or Palace Station. They are all pretty bad.
The discount ticket places also have discount dinner vouchers for sale. Prices are about 25% to 33% off. There is a ticket outlet in the Hawaiian Marketplace (in front of Polo Towers). If you are driving there is one just before the Riviera which has a small parking lot.
Hope this helps. Its late at night and I'm doing the best I can. I still can't tyope well with my left hand.

Every casino coffee shop use to have a "special" to draw people into the casino. When they started making more money off of rooms, restaurants, retail and clubs, they sort of did away with a lot of those gamblers specials. On our last trip there we found very few coffee shop specials and those we did find weren't very special.
Having said that times have changed drastically since we were there last March. Perhaps some of the casino coffee shops will be bringing back those specials to get people in the door to try to make some money off the machines again rather than everything else. If not, most of the downtown casino's still had coffee shop specials but, that's really a long way to go just to eat cheap food that isn't always that "special".Our timeshare and other photo's at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/
