  • Need help picking a unit at Silverleaf Villages

We just made an exchange with RCI for a Presidential unit at the Silverleaf Villages in east Texas. The only resort map I can find is old and only has one section of the Presidentals on it. I know that more have been built, along with the water park and beach club area.
If anyone has a current map I'd really appreciate it if you could post it or e-mail it .

Also if anyone has a recommendation for which building/unit to request that would also be welcome. We would like a lake view if possible but I'm not sure if the newer units in the beach club section overlook the water.

    Thanks for any input.

The most knowledgeable person I know that can help you is HopHop here and on TUG. You might PM her. She is very helpful.

Thanks Mike. Hop and I have been in constant PM contact since I've started this quest last month (first at Seaside which fell through for us). We've stayed at The Villages before but that was six years ago in a cabin unit before they started building all the new stuff Lakeside. This time I held out for a Presidential unit so I'm hoping for something nice.

Thanks Mike for the comment. I am not really familar with The Villages only stayed there once long time ago and the map we have is old. I did post over in our Yahoo Group if anyone had a recent map to scan it in, but nothing yet.

Thanks again Hop. If anyone comes up with any info I appreciate it. I'll post a map, photos and review when I get back.

When are you going to Villages? Someone from our Yahoo Group is going up there next week and said he will get one and scan it. I don't think SL will assign you a unit until you get there, but it will be a Pres.

Not going until the end of Feb so if someone gets a map before I go I'd love to see it. I've had good luck with all the Silverleaf resorts where we've stayed in having them honor my building or unit type (i.e. we like the top floor) requests.

I usually phone them a few days before we check in and make a request and then follow up with the front desk when checking in. Since we travel off season they usually have plenty of availability so they are happy to give us what we've requested. Only once at Piney Shores where we hit it at the tail end of spring break did we have to take a unit in a building that we didn't like (overlooking the playground). But after two nights (at the end of the weekend) they moved us to our requested lakeview unit.

Of course we only ask for something in the unit type that we've exchanged for (i.e. lodge unit or Presidential). I know they don't upgrade to a better type unit but luckily this time we were able to snag a Presidential through RCI. What I don't know is how the Villages allocate these (Beach Club units versus the older Presidentials). We have a Sunday check in date.

Thanks for checking with your Yahoo group.

                Villages Resort Map

The new resort map is posted over on our Yahoo Group under "Files". It only shows one Presidential in the Beach Club area but there are two buildings now and one more under construction. The older Presidentials face the Marina. The building with unit 501 has an elevator the others don't.

                Hope this helps.

                  Thanks for the maps!!!

Thanks so much for doing this! It really helps to get a good idea of the layout of the resort before we get there. We'll probably drive around the Lakeside area and see what's going on before we hit the check-in desk. I'll take photos!
