  • Albuquerque, NM Hotel/Motels

Need recommendation on a good Hotel/Motel in Albuquerque, NM. We are staying at Las Brisas de Santa Fe the second week in July and need a good hotel/motel for the day before and after our stay in Santa Fe. It will be my wife and I plus our two grandsons, ages 6 and 8. Also, what is there to do in Albuquerque for them? Thanks.

    Go to the zoo

Plenty to do in albuquerque, for the kids the have Rio Grande zoo and Aquarium. It is a great place trolley ride from zoo to Aqaurium.

Plenty of Hotels in Albuquerque, maybe another contributor can be of assitance there.

We like the Doubletree down town, and if you are looking for weekend dates, you can get it very cheaply on Priceline.com (check on BiddingForTravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum for usual winning bids). There is a great pectoglyph site essentially right in town. It used to be a state park; now, I think it's national. It's very walkable and you can even park the car right by many of them. There are also state parks with ruins quite close: Coronado State Park (I think).

Thanks for this post. You just jarred my memory. We are going to Santa 4/10-4/17. We have a 2 PM flight out of Albuquerque. We were considering going the day before, staying in a hotel so we can do some sightseeing, and then be closer to the airport in the morning.

How far is downtown from the airport? How is the traffic?

Albuquerque is a tiny city--15 minutes will get you anyplace just about. The downtown is about 6 blocks off the interstate and the interstate goes right to the airport. Even when traffic is at its worst, it's nothing.

The highway (25) to Santa Fe has been improved greatly, and the drive from Albq to SF goes pretty quickly. Happy travels.

How long should it take from Santa Fe to Albequerque? I was thinking of spending the night in Alb. before we leave since we will be in SF for the week. But now I am thinking, is it an easy drive to just do one day while we are staying in Santa Fe. Just drive to Alb., spend the day, do spme sightseeing, and drive back to SF? Or should we get a hotel room for the night?

It took us about an hour to drive, maybe a little less. We stayed in ABQ the night before, but that was only because we were staying an extra day.
Our home airport is an hour away from our house and we drive all the time...that is unless the flight is at 6am...

So if we want to look around Alb. then maybe we should just do a day trip and save the extra bucks.

I think it is very doable. Same for a run up to Taos from SF. We have stayed in SF and spent a day in Taos.
