  • City assisting with development cost of David Walley's Resort in Nevada!

I condensed the content for the sake of simplicity, but thought this brought up a pretty interesting discussion. Do you think that local communities should assist timeshare developers with financial incentives such as this tunnel?

With the budget situations of most municipalities, should public monies be spent in this way? My opinion is yes, as long as it is within reason and doesn't infringe on the basic needs of the community... Timeshare properties bring an increase in tourism to a community which brings outside money in! If they can bring in another 50 families each week, that means more money for local businesses.

If you care to share some thoughts on this, I'd love the hear them..

"Regarding the approval of another 190 units at Walley’s, let me see if I have this right. Walley’s asked for and got 190 additional units, no questions asked, the usual approach here......But the community had the temerity to ask for just one thing, a pedestrian tunnel so that Walley’s customers won’t be killed crossing the highway. Something that actually benefits Walley’s, not the community.

Walley’s said OK, but please pay for half the cost.... So our broke county is only kicking in $90,000.

I’m glad to see that our elected officials have their priorities straight, using public resources to line the pockets of the rich while keeping the average working man down. Way to go!"
