    Hi, new to the forum!

My mom, daughter (15), son (2) and I are thinking of staying at the following timeshares through II as an exchange:
Sherton Desert Oasis, Cibola Vista Resort, Scottsdale Links Resort, Scottsdale Villa Mirage, Villas of Gold Canyon or Villas of Cave Creek in the first two weeks of Aug 09.

I have read various reviews on these places all over the internet but we can't make up our minds. I only read the bad review on this site for Cibola. I couldn't find any reviews on the others, so if there are, let me know.

Remember, I am new to this whole forum thing and really don't know how to work my way around this.

We want activies that will appeal to both ages and is a nice resort to stay.

On another point, what is there to do in the Phoenix area? Is visiting the Grand Canyon too far?

    Thanks in advance!

Having stayed at all these locations I would rate the Sheraton Desert Oasis as the best. Then the Villa Mirage and Scottsdale Links.
Cibola, Gold Canyon and Cave Creek are all too far away from most attractions.
The Grand Canyon is a long drive and not much to do after you've taken in the view.
Sedona is a beautiful place that you can touch and feel (like a small Grand Canyon) about 90 minutes away.
You could fly out of Table Top Mesa Airport in Sedona (also a great view of the Sedona area) in a small plane to the Grand Canyon.
You can stop and see Montezuma's Castle and Arcosanti on the drive there. Slide Rock is a place to stop driving up the Oak Creek Canyon. You may want to take the Verde Valley Railroad Trip out by Cottonwood or drive up to the artsy town of Jerome.
Phoenix and Scottsdale have too many attractions and restaurants to list but can be found in any local magazine or newspaper.

We have stayed at SDO twice and like it a lot. Friends have stayed at Villa Mirage and liked that, too.

If you've never seen the Canyon, you should go. We took an all day Van tour to the Canyon when we visited in 2000.

Sedona is definitely worth the trip just for the scenery.

It will be HOT in August so you will want to spend lots of time in the pool and SDO has a big pool.

Here is a link to a thread with useful arizona links.

I hope you and your family enjoyed the visit....where did you stay and what did you do during the trip? Phoenix enjoyed a huge heat wave during that time....I am sure you loved the swimming pool! Highest daytime temps were upwards of 119!
Life is short, live it with this awareness.
