  • Opinions about Santa Fe

I have a request in for Santa Fe over Memorial Day weekend in 2010. How would the weather be in late May/early June? Is Santa Fe considered a difficult timeshare trade? I see there are few resorts in the area and none are highly rated, but I imagine that due to Santa Fe being a desireable tourist destination, I shouldn't be too fussy about the resort.

I'd love to hear any opinions about the resorts there, and Santa Fe in general as a vacation choice.

    Thanks!

We love Santa Fe.....and Albuquerque.....and Las Cruces......and Taos.........and New Mexico in general (I lived in Albuquerque for 2 1/2 magical years, too). We've stayed in lots of hotels in the area and once at Villas de Santa Fe. Check out the Trip Advisor forum on New Mexico for lots and lots of ideas about what to do there. They have a couple of Destination Experts for New Mexico now and both are good.

My sister lives in Santa Fe and we were there in September. We stayed at Otra Vez, which is in the middle of Santa Fe. You could walk to all the restaurants and shops...nice location. We had a 1 bedroom, which was comfortable but a little small. Parking was tight, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again because of the location.
We did drive by Villas de Santa Fe, but did not go in...they were in a decent location within Santa Fe. May should be good weather. There's so much to see out there..some of which were mentioned by Pstreet

Otra Vez looks like a great location. We'll be staying at Las Brisas over Thanksgiving week this year. It's a few blocks farther away from the Plaza. But, we were able to get a 2-bedroom there. This will be our first visit to Santa Fe staying in a timeshare. Previously it's been at the El Rey Inn, or at my sil's house.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. It looks like among our group we'll have all three Santa Fe resorts covered. I confirmed the week over Memorial Day weekend at Villas de Santa Fe. I had a week I wanted to use up with SFX and recently I have been expanding my list of locations I was willing to accept. This just came up as a match. It sounds like the resort has had extensive renovations and the unit should be reasonably nice, although small. I'm sure we'll have a great time in Santa Fe, and probably won't spend a lot of time at the resort, anyway, since there are so many historic places and museums to visit.

There is also a new Worldmark in Santa Fe, as well as Taos.

Thanks for the info. I took a brief look at this property. I am no longer an RCI member, so that limits my ability to trade into this resort. It would need to be through SFX (and I am probably dropping that membership after this trade, also). The Worldmark property sounds very similar to the others in Santa Fe, in that it is a converted hotel and will have studio to one bedroom units that are quite small. Furthermore, it has no onsite amenities such as a pool or hot tub. No doubt it will have upscale furnishings and be nicely decorated, and the location will be great. As far as being a better option than Villas de Santa Fe, not particularly. I think I have done as well as possible with the Villas since they have a lobby, pool, a couple hot tubs and have been recently renovated. Most city timeshares, whether they're in San Francisco or New Orleans etc. tend to be smaller, older units in rehabbed buildings, and they don't have the facilities common to modern purpose built properties that have more land, so I know I need to make allowances in my expectations.
