  • more restaurants closing in Wisconsin Dells

We stopped at Famous Dave's in downtown Dells and saw a closed sign. They said they would reopen in the spring. Houlihans closed down. Quiznos closed. cold Stone Creamery closed.
The Chicago Club, Sharkey's, and a planned development went through foreclosure. House of Embers said they are not doing well.

The Dells was busier this summer than I can remember, and many businesses said that they had an increase of 30% in business. Marley's is building a huge new place.

We'll be in the Dells this weekend. Any restaurants you would recommend that are still open this time of year? We're staying at Wyndham Glacier Canyon so we will have access to the indoor water parks and arcades but would be interested in any other tourist type activities that may still be open in the Dells. (we're not real big fans of water parks ... trip was booked for grandkids and now they can't go ).

Any suggestions would be helpful ...

    Thanks
    Vicki

I read a articale the the cold Stone Creamery franchises have a much higher failure rate than Culvers because Culvers reqires a bigger investment than a lot of other franchises. There was one sub franchise mentioned that had a high failure rate but I do not remember it's name but it was not Quiznos.

Times are rough in the Racine Wisconsin area and I we see in the Racine paper there are a lot of forcolures listed.

After a bid summer and after September it has been very quiet for rentals at CMV compared to other years as we had 5 rentals for the week of Oct 1-8 go unrented and 3 out of 5 rentals for Oct 8-15 are unrented at lower rental prices compared to other years.

near the Wilderness is Sorrentos which is good and from Thursday thru Sunday in the bar they have Brian Beebe singing and he is good.
The AMC movie theatre is onlky $5 on weekdays.

International Crane Foundation is nice to see. Also a drive out to Devil's Lake is a nice treat with the colors changing. And they will be at peak this weekend.

If you can hold of Wednesday's Stopper Shopper there is a $6.50 Friday fish fry coupon for House of Embers. this is an excellent restaurant and pretty pricey most of the time. Actually, the Local Pointe has the most delicious fish fry. Kaminsky Brothers Chop House has great food, pricey, with a $12.95 fish fry that includes a garbage salad and walleye, perch and bluegill plate potato extra.

I am watching the last minute rentals. My daughter's friend is coming up 15th and 16th, could stay at my house , but want a place of their own.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are hoping the fall colors are good there this weekend ... just starting to change here in Indiana now. Heading out shortly.
