Timing on Payment of Maintenance Fees

I know that the maintenance fees are due on 6/1. However, I was wondering if they need to be paid prior to that if I want to make a reservation and deposit it into RCI for the period 6/1/12 to 5/31/2012.

I am purchasing one of the CMV UDI weeks from the HOA. If all goes well, the ownership may be transferred by the end of April (keep fingers crossed). I would like to start making reservations as soon as it is transferred and was wondering if I should be prepared to pay the new year's maintenance fees prior to 6/1.

Hi Lisa,

To answer your question about needing to prepay your MF - - it depends on your home resort. In order to make a deposit, you will need to first make a reservation at your home resort (assuming that you don't have a fixed week).

I own at the Sands of Kahana and there I need to prepay the MF. When I bought (from Ebay) the closing company was kind to have made a reservation for me. But no one told me that I had to prepay the MF. So after a few weeks, they cancelled the reservation - - but no one contacted me. Luckily I was able to get an equivalent reservation after I prepaid.

I also own at Marriott DS2 and bought there this past summer. Their policies are different. I was able to make my reservations without prepaying. BUT I asked first, just to avoid any potential problems.

So call the reservation dept. of your new timeshare and ask directly.

Did you mean 2012-2013? I have had no problems in the past with our CMV UDI,s but Bluegreen and others can change things without notice. Once the account is in your name call BG direct and ask. You could plan pay your 2012-1213 MF's a bit early and avoid the suspense..

Yes, I mean the 2012/2013 fees that are due this June 1st. My tentative plan is to pay them early, as soon as the transfer takes place, but I was just wondering if this is a requirement for CMV.

Lisa, I have had no problems in the past with our CMV UDI,s but Bluegreen and others can change things without notice. I canot speak for BG or guess when if any changes will be made in any BG area.
