  • DNR imposes fireworks ban ins ome counties in Wisconsin

many of the planned fireworks displays have been postponed or cancelled.
Apparently christmas mountain opted not to have the traditional fireworks, but to have the ski lift carry people to the top of the mountain to watch neighboring fireworks. Unfortunately, most of them have been postponed.

This is happening all over as the drought continues. The public is being urged to not purchase/set off their own fireworks as well. It's all a tinderbox with high heat and crunchy grass that hasn't needed to be mowed since sometime in early May.

I'm glad to not have ornery kids in my neighborhood. my last neighborhood had bottle rocket enthusiasts who didn't care whose yard/roof/car/pet the crap landed on.

Where are you at BoardGirl? I'm in western suburbs of Chicago, and I haven't mowed since before we left for Virginia on June 7th....

I'm not too far from you - Indy.

We did finally get rain TWICE (big storm early morning hours today).

I do hope they keep the bans in place, tho, as this is False Security. I'm pretty sure that if I set fire to my burn pit today that I would be unable to keep it in its pit and potentially start an underground fire. The rain we got is already being sucked up by starving WEEDS trees and flowers. The cracked ground is still cracked vs mud.

I don't mind not having to spend time mowing and the news yesterday was saying it's better to not have your mower on the lawn right now anyway. I love it when someone comes along to justify my not doing a chore I didn't want to do ...

Up here in the Mitten State, the grass is as dry or drier than it typically is at the end of the summer...I'm not at all surprised.
