  • back at Christmas Mountain

we were here 4 days and went to south dakota on family business and just returned last night after being gone over 8 months.

my husband went out to check his wild flowers and saw that the yellow lady slipper orchids were in bloom, and we had a rare pink lady slipper come back after many years. this morning, he went outside to discover deer tracks and no more pink orchids. he came in to tell me, and there was the culprit, a very large deer standing staring at us! we couldn't even scare him off.

my husband will be doing nature hikes, and a nature program on Mondays and a putting clinic on Wednesdays this summer at Christmas Mountain. look for it on activities calendar.

I am sure it feels good to be back home....and those darn deer!!!
They eat all the good stuff.
I refer to our hostas as the "salad bar"

one part of being back, I don't like at all. kids staying in the timeshares find it a lot of fun to ring our doorbell very late at night and run away, and keep coming back and doing it over and over. last night it was at eleven o'clock. last year the doorbell ringing came with the lit bag of manure, which we were supposed to stomp on when we opened the door and saw the fire. all in all, I don't find it funny, and don't know if someone is checking to see if someone is home before they break in, or worse.
