  • Polynesian Hotel to become a timeshare

The Polynesian Hotel on Hwy H has been in foreclosure. A group is buyng it, remodeling, and within the year will choose a group of rooms to turn into timeshares, with more timeshares being developed each year. The original hotel had 227 rooms, and was the areas first indoor waterpark. One of the people who is involved was in marketing at CMV and is very sharp.

Is it going to be associated with any timeshare group?

I don't believe it will be associated at this time. The article also stated that timeshares do not pay the bed tax, so each one will have $1000 tax (it did not state, but I am guessing a year.)

When I read your title I thought you were talking about disneys Polynesian hotel which is also converting rooms to timeshare. Probably built around the same time as this other hotel.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

The latest article talks about Capital Resorts Group naming the resort - The Sanctuary Lodge at Splash Canyon.

I was able to read the article at the library, sounds like there are 7 or 9 resorts in the group.
It is my understanding that the back building will be the timeshare, and the front building will be a Baymont Inn and Suites
I do not understand the part about several restaurants on site, not enough room for that.

That was my first thought as well. But then I remembered it was in the CMV subforum, and realized what the thread title really meant.

It looks like the units in that system are mostly 1 BR, so even if they're with RCI I would have missed them. The resort looks lovely, but going on the floor plan the units look small to me, and likely dark (only the one window in the bedroom). But I would love to know where the mill with the waterwheel and dam waterfall in that first picture is! Very pretty.

looks like they have some nice destinations. we stayed at The Palms of Treasure Island, each was privately owned, and the owner of ours chose not to have any cookware and any bowls in the place, but here was a hand mixmaster
