  • house burns down on Christmas Mountain

this house is right across the street from mine. We are out of town, was shocked to read this on Facebook. It is on the golf course, the Pines at end of hole 6.

    That house is gone, wow.
I will drive around looking for it when we are there Memorial Weekend.
And if you see someone waving from a Blue Saturn Vue with MN plates, that will be me .

I have been gone since October, but it sounds like it was a kitchen fire. there is the mother, she used to be in sales at CMV, and her daughter who has MS and is in a wheelchair, and the grandson, about 8. also rent out the section next to them but. don't know the renters at all. reports say everyone got out okay. concern was the woods would burn and that would have gotten to me as we have one solid acre of woods right across street.

when we moved here, we were told the motto of the fire department was "we have never lost a foundation"

Yes it was nice to meet you, and when you come in the fall you may still get to see it.

this is what we have been looking at for over three months. The main part of the house is the rubble, the part standing is the one bedroom apartment, with lower level, that was destroyed by roof caving in and water damage. The township board has passed a razing order,, ordering the owner to raze and remove the debris by August 31. the owner has bought two houses e;elsewhere.which leads me to believe she received a settlement.

Somehow this lady was able to sell the lot with part of the foundation still in the ground and get twice as much as other lots. The new buyer has discovered that part of the foundation is on the neighboring lot and some other major violations. How this was not discovered before purchase I do not know.
