  • New manager at CMV

I briefly met the new manager, Scott Rao, as he was driving around looking at houses for sale. He has signed a contract to purchase a spec home in christmas Mountain Golf Estates, so perhaps he will stay awhile. He said he used to work at Massanutten in ski operations. other than that, I have not seen him around the resort at all and our POA rep has talked on the phone but not met him.

The newspapers report that the Dells convention bureau believes they will still reach a billion dollars of tourist money this year.

On the other hand, they refused to readmit Mt. Olympus into the Bureau. He had pulled out last year and spoken to the press about his reasons, so they aren't taking him back. The fact that he donated 12,000 passes to Mt. Olympus this summer to hotel owners around Lake Delton so they could stay in business by offering them free with one night stay didn't sway the Bureau.

The families who lost their homes in the flood are suing Lake Delton because they wouldn't sign the paperwork to allow them to buy flood insurance before the flood.

    Restaurants
Almost any restaurant that used to have coupons seems to be out of business , or no more coupons.

Rocky Roccoco Pizza closed permanently on Saturday.
    Green Mill closed last year.
Wintergreen only serves lunch and breakfast.
Pinewood Bistro at CMV is only open Th, Fri, Sat and no coupons.
Field's Steak and Stein closed Labor Day weekend.
The Dam Bar closed Sept. 20.
Essen House is now called Das Boot and Grille.

I am hoping the new manager will come to the neighborhood party Saturday so we can all meet him and hear what his plans are.

If it wouldn't be an 8 hour round trip, I would love to join in on that party. I really like CMV, partially because it is only 4 hours away, but also because it is quiet.

I am so sorry to hear of all the closings or changes. I hope the area recovers. Tough because it is so much of a summer season area. I know when we are there in about 3 weeks, we will be in Baraboo spending money, but the Dells proper, not so much.

Scott Rao attended the party yesterday. It was right next door to the house he bought. i would say he is early 40's and he has ten week old twins. He told me he used to be the manager at one of the Sapphire Valley resorts. He also mentioned owning two clothing stores at one time. He is very personable and down to earth. Everyone is looking forward to some good changes at CMV while keeping the good stuff. He did say the Asst. general manager resigned.
