  • Update at Christmas Mountain

Natural gas is coming in and will replace propane gas for heating, cooking, hot water.
The work will begin in August, but probably will not be completed for this season.
No work will be done from Nov 1 to April 1.
The charge to the POA is $300,000. Then there will be a charge to connect to the dwellings and convert the furnaces etc.

    good news
they a re making progress on the installation of gas line, coming all the way from the WalMart area, down P, down Lyndon, and thru Christmas Mountain Golf Estates.
A company hired by Alliant was marking the electric lines today.

and the best news - probably no assessment because for every structure that hooks on, CMV will receive a credit, I think around 500$ will be deducted from t he $300,000 for every building that converts to natural gas heat.

plus the price of propane is down to $1.30 a gallon from $2.49 last year if they don't make it in time for the winter season.

I saw the 4" (or so; maybe 6") diameter yellow pipe when we were driving back down P on Thursday, and they were working on it in front of our cottage (163) when we were there. No disruption, noise, or fuss.

supposedly the hook ups to the units begin Oct 15. An alliant representative gave us an estimate of conversion costs, about $650 for our home. It should be less than that per resort units. They will do the resort buildings first.

/we turned on our heat this morning and expect a freeze tomorrow night.
