  • Virus Message

I'm getting a message when I first get on the website and a number of subsequent screens (although not new posts tab) that part of the website is being blocked because of a virus attached to part of the website. I got it when at the home screen, forums lists and getting to this section

Other than the new posts page, every other one, even getting to this post, has the message from webpage:

"part of this page or link was blocked due to a virus alert"

          Trojan.JS.

          Transaction ID #4B5E3082550E250140F0

I'm getting this message on my work computer which probably has a higher level of security than the home one.

I encountered the same thing when I arrived at your homepage. Our security system "Shield Deluxe" flashed an urgent message about "Trojan Invader".

The strange thing is that I have been getting this same message for 3 days every time I try to check in to TUG. So I came here to see if the TUG situation was being discussed here.

What a sick world we live in!

              Here's the exact message:

              Trojan program (modification):
              Trojan. JS. Redirection.ar

              File pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js

Now I'm receiving the exact same alert from our security program "Shield Deluxe" when I clicked on a link on an Email message bringing me to a new post in a Redweek forum.

I was thinking since it was from the front page that the map software was infected some how. I have let Ken know about it again he should be doing a virus scan of the software here tonight,.

Frank, it's not just the front page. I was getting it on every page, even trying to do these posts.

As an aside, I'm not getting the error message on the home computer.

I'm fine, everywhere. Somehow the two of you picked up a nasty bug somewhere...

Google the trojan message and you'll probably find the fix for it.

Ken must have done something because I am no longer getting the error message on this computer. I know I didn't do anything.

I didn't figure out the cause yet myself. If it is on multiple pages, then my guess is it must be the google links that had something in there that tracked page views that the security software didn't like.

I ran a virus scan on a backup and I did not find anything. I am still trying to find the problem and if someone sees this please post the same types of details so I can try to find it.

Frank and I talked about upgrading ths site again very soon but I need to approach this next upgrade with a lot of caution so if we can address issues withthe current board I want to do that so we can keep this software running while I upgrade in the background as opposed to a brave leap to the new software like we have done before.

Check to see if "Personal Security" did not automatically install itself on your computer. I had that probem and was able to get it off one computer but then my laptop got infected and its is a little harder to get it off.

We are doing the site upgrade and Ken last night did find 2 virus Redirect warnings that were removed. The problem we have is we do not know where it is if it is even coming from here, Ken does not want to move forward until we know there is no virus on any pages or links.

What we need from you is.

Please report as much info as you can, We need to know where it was what kind of alert did you get and what virus software you are using that picked this up.

Yesterday I was not even on this site but I got a virus warning that looked like it was from Microsoft, It tried to take over my computer and run a scan which was coming up for a Trojan but I stopped it and I ran my own virus scan which told me I was clean. The scan that it ran was under a minute so I know it could not have been legit. It was most likely trying to get me to purchase there virus scan to remove what ever it tried to add,
