Whats a linkback? Everytime I post a new thread i get an email saying my post was linkback. Whats the purpose of a linkback or refback?

Other than to keep track of activity on a thread, I have no idea. If you go to your user profile and then "edit options", find the topic for thread subscriptions and enter the do not subscribe option. Should you wish to subscribe to a thread from time to time, you can do so before posting by scrolling down to additional options while in the posting/reply mode.
