  • Did anybody notice anything strange before the server when down?

I had a real bugger of a time figuring out what caused us to go down but I figure out that one of our files had become corrupted. At first I thought we had been hacked but now I am not so sure....

We are really using a lot of bandwith and I may need to make some changes to reduce our server load in the future. We are growing fast and I am glad to see that but we will need to move to a bigger server in a few months (I think) but I am hoping to put that off until we get some projects finished...

I will hold off on changes for a bit but if this happens again I will need to make some server changes...

Ken I noticed the page can not be found a few times today when I hit new posts. After 2 to 3 tries it would come right back. Since it is summer, I wonder if it was a power outage due to over usage of Ac's.

I believe the last post was mine just before it went down. I posted the Stub poker joke and it went right down after posting it.

No, we had a file get changed... I have tested as much of the rest of the site as I can and it looks like most everything else is working... Very alarming as I am bust coding things so I could have lost a lot of work on the resorts database as it was not on my last backup DVD.

I am backing everything up again now but the server has a lot of data on it!

How could a file get changed. Who could do that?

        At least nothing was lost.

That I don't know... A hacker can do a lot of stuff but the file that was changed looks like I have protexted the way it should be so I really don't think a hacker is a likely answer but it is possible...

A better guess is that the file just somehow got screwed up but that seems strange too...

I really don't know but that is why I am a little paranoid about what I will or will not add and that I do so many backups...

Ken, I have had multiple problems today trying to come here and at the other timeshare forum too but I thought that it was our connection so I restarted the computer several times but it didn't change.

It was dinner time here so I went to the kitchen instead but now it is working fine over here and I will go back on TUG to see if it will load up OK over there too. I know that they have problems with their server until they will change it which will be soon.

So sad that hackers have to cause so much headaches for all of us and we all pay for that because the web hosting companies pass on the extra charges to you and me. Nothing is free.

I got home earlier than usual last night and noticed nothing was coming up when I came to the site- no error message- no TS4M. That was just before 9 PM. We had thunderstorms here and a short power outage- long enough though so that I had to reset my VCRs this morning.

I had problems I believe it started on saturday morning and posted a message, but it resolved itself. I have had problems sporadically all weekend. It was in no particular page or any particular time..just seemed random.

i just checked...it was on the 13th and this is the quote from the post.

I tried several times this morning to update the seasons and room types and when I hit update, it takes forever and brings me to "cannot find server page". As you see by the time, it's quite early and only 13 people are on site.
This evidently resolved itself..no further issues
