  • log in stability problem

i have now run into this several times. I log in, perhaps make a short post, then type a longer one on another thread. When I try to post, the system has logged me out, even though the page shows me still logged in. It tells me i need to refresh the page and log in again, but when I do that I lose the material I have just typed. I never had that problem on the old boards. Is there something that can be done to make the log in stable, so it does not flip out like this? It is highly annoying when it happens.

Until I hear that it is fixed, if i have a long post, I will post part of it, and then keep doing edits until I get the whole thing up. That avoids a long post vanishing into cyberspace when a log in flips out.

Try clicking the "Remember Me" box when you log in and see if that helps. What that does is updates the cookie on your computer as opposed to relying on site sessions to keep you logged in. There isn't anything added to the site that should cause issues anymore so I am not sure what else to suggest.

Is your IP in the UK? It sounds like a Cookie issue to me is why i asked...the UK just passed some insane law(i think it was May it passed) that requires consent before a website can place cookies on a persons computer....I don't know if the new version of Vbulletin reflects that law yet, or if maybe your host has added something

it could also be as simple as setting the log out time in the admin panel under 'Session Timeout' and i maybe just blowing hot air with this UK thing

Do you think it may be your political views? I've noticed you post in the Politics forum a lot. Perhaps the TS4Ms administrator has a different view on things.

        only kidding with you.

I suggest copying your post to your clipboard before trying to post it. That way will allow you to just paste it back if you encounter any problem. I do that all the time and it has saved me a lot f retyping.

I use the Firefox browser which has the auto-save feature.
