  • Please report any issues discovered with this server move!

If anybody sees anything that is not working please report the problem here. I don't mean things we had years ago that are no longer working but I mean things that stopped working as a result of the changes from the past few days.

Can we get our GPR HOA forum back?

We lost the GPR HOA forum when there was the upgrade several months ago. Can we get it back? Can we start a new one?

We still have it and I will ask what we can do to Ken. As you know we have gone nuts moving to the new server. I think Ken had started a report issues with the upgrade thread. If you want post there so I do not forget to mention it with all that is going on and my mind not as sharp as it once was and going down hill lately I forget everything now a days.

The HOA forums are all still here... What needs to happen is the permissions need to be set so that only members of these groups can see them. The old landing pages for the various HOA and special groups are also gone but that software is no longer in the forums at all so we can't just turn those landing pages back on.

So, Frank or Tony needs to go in and set the usergroup permissions. These need to be set so members only can see and the group leaders need to approve join requests. The groups need to be set such that everybody can see them in order for people to find and request membership.

The umm, more private groups are different as those need to be kept hidden but I leave that to Frank and Tony on how they want to do those.

It's just a permissions issue... They are all here.

If it helps, the Pollard Brook HOA is dead. It started with the assessment issue and died soon thereafter. No need to reinstate it or permissions.

If you need to add people back one at a time, maybe we could start a list for people who want to be added back in? It would seem that if the forum is still there, you might be able to check the user names to see if those requesting access have posted in the area before. That way you wouldn't have to waste time adding in those who aren't active anymore. Just a thought.

I took a look at it and I can't even get the forum to show. I'll take another look tonight if I have time.

Went through and changed Usergroup manager to match the options in the Bluegreen group and nothing changed. I have no clue what to do.

I can get it to work if it is an open forum but not Private as it was

The issue is in the forums permissions

I turned back on the GPR and you can see how I did that to do the rest. You ONLY grant access to the group (Like I did).

The issue is someone needs to assign usergroup leaders to each of these or ANYBODY can join! So, for GPR I added Frank as the Group Leader (again so you see how to set the rest up). You should add another leader from that HOA and they will accept new members that request to join after what ever verification the HOA group wishes to request.

It took me a minute to find it but you join groups here:

Now, for each HOA the text below it says:

Private forum for XXXXXXXXXXX owners only.
                              To join, please CLICK HERE.

Those CLICK HERE pages will not work as they were custom coded and my days of rewriting the default forum code are over. You need to decide how you want to handle this. Easiest would be to change the link to go to the join groups page. Then your group leaders need to decide how they will review people that wish to join when they get a request.
