Is there any way I can omit posts from certain forums from showing up when I look at Todays's Posts. There are certain forums that I only want to look at occasionally and some of these have many posts that really clutter up the "Todays Posts" pages. I just saw on the TUG board that they can now omit certain forums and I thought ts4ms used the same software. Thanks.

Ken ~~ Jim is talkin bout certain forums to read every time you sign-on ~~ Its located under Exclude Forums from "Get New Posts" under "Edit Options" ~~ I like this feature cause you can select only what forums you want to read & post to every time you sign-in to the TS4M's ~~ Here's my URL but I doubt you can get to it ~~

Hope this helps ~~

I will look at this and the settings on the site... This may have been something they added but given how well Yug had been running I am not sure I am in a hurry to copy
Just kidding...
I will look and see how they are doing this and evaluate if that would mess up anything else I have done to the site.

The other way around
You can probably just subscript on the forum you want and have the option as email to you on daily summery. So you don't need to come to the site if you don't feel like to. But on the other hand, I will think to just come to the site should be much benefit since someone may post something in a area you did not subscript.
You can also select option to have any thread you post or start notified you if something comes up
Look at "Quick Link" Tab and "User Control Panel"

I am guessing that is a feature in version 3.5.4. that we don't have in 3.5.2.?
There is a new major version of the software that will be released soon and I am trying to evaluate upgrading to that (It is a 3.6 version). I am woried as just about everything on the site would need to be redone and I am just really getting tired of all the rework so I have not decided yet if I am going to do the upgrade...
I will see if this is a feature in the new version but my guess is that it is...

Just to let you all know, I found the code that will allow me to do this... it is an add-on to the forum code and it will require database changes. The great news is that this looks like it will be a standard feature of the new vB 3.6 software when it is released.
I will see if I can get this installed soon...

you've alrady turned off avatars, images, etc. which is an important first step.
Then, here's the next important step. When you want to navigate to a page or a thread, don't click the link! Instead, right click on the link. A dropdown menu will appear, and from the menu select "Open in new window" (assuming you are using Internet Explorer). That will keep the page open that you are on, while the link you just selected opens in the background.
If you're on a page such as the new posts page, there may be ten or tweny threads you want to review. So open ten or twenty windows. By the time you've clicked on the 10th or 20th link, the first one you opened will have finished loading. Go to that page and read it while the other pages continue loading. When you are done with that page, close it and go to the second page, which will have finished loading by now. And continue on in that fashion.
That was the only that I survived on the BBS in the old dial up days.

Even now that I'm on cable, I still do this. When I come into the New Posts page, it's much easier to just scroll down the page, right clicking on anything of interest, than to click on link wait for the page to load, back up to New Posts after I've finished that page, scroll to the next item I want to see, and review the process.
I have the New Posts link bookmarked and that page is my portal to the site. Typiclly I spend 15 to 30 seconds on that page, and I might end up with ten to twenty open pages for me to review.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You shouldn't wear that body.”
