  • Question - Removing the user CP box on the right...

I am planning to recode the header so that I can get rid of the userC box on the right side of every paqge. I tried removing it before but members liked having the count of new posts and other info that is in there...

What specifically should I add to the welcome box in the header if I am able to recode things and get it included?

Number of new posts is the most valuable bit of info in the User CP for me.

JMHO ~~ I think it takes extra space ~~ When you click on the "new posts" ~~ You get the same information of how many new posts there are ~~ You already have a User CP menu ~~ So why take-up extra space ~~ Leaves more room to add sponcers for the forums so it don't cost much to keep the site runnin ~~

Correct, that was why I tried to remove it before but I didn't want to recode the old header as I knew the look was going to change. The stuff on the right will be changing some as we move forward but the site is getting closer now!

So, I just need to figre out how to get the useful information moved up to the header... I am not sure how soon it will happen as I have higher priorities at the moment...

I am fine with removing the user cp box and putting a bit more info in the header.....use the space to help the site....when you have the time of course.

Well, we need the space for several things now:

            Photos from the photoserver
New Reviews Nofifications (when I get the reviews system started that is)

Plus, once the main site is working these blocks provide a way to include a number of useful tools blocks for our members! I am just working towards that end by trying to compress what we have so I can add more new stuff!

OK, I have finally figured out a place that I can add the code to calculate if there are new posts that is opened by most pages on the forums. If the page you are looking at does not incude the "New Posts" count in the upper right it is a limitation of what I have to work with and if the code does not calculate "New Posts" you will not see a link to the new posts or the count of new posts!

With this addition I have turned off the "welcome" block on the right side.

I am still trying to figure out how I can get this to be calculated on more pages and if I find a way I will likely remove the "New Posts" link from the navbar as there will be the link in the upper right corner of every page that does the same thing.

At one time, I saw the eBay auctions there and rather liked it and I had given the link to some people I know but it is no longer there. That should contribute to the site too. Are you considering putting it back again?

Actually, I did put them back and made the pages far more useful! Click "Website Navigation" on the left side of the navigation bar and you will see a link for EBAY PAGES!

                    Here is the direct link:

                    http://www.timeshareforums.com/index.php3?page=ebay

Everything we had here before is back and I am finally starting to code some new additions!
