  • Browser Check & a chance to see my kids... Need feedback!

I need to confirm that the code I am planning to use to display photos works for most people's browsers...

When you go the the following sample page you will see three photos of my kids... aren't they cute...

When you click the images you should get a fading of the website with a larger image in the foreground. You should be able to navigate by moving over the photos to navigate to the Prev or Next image... You should also be able to use the p and n keys!

I really need to confirm this works for most people before I work on getting the site ready to take resort images! So, can you confirm the image tool I have been working with works for you?

    EDIT:

I have added a second pice of code that I am hoping to use that will allow images to scroll accross the bar in the resorts database... This way members can look at the thumbs OR click them and browse the larger images...

I would like feedback if this is causing any problems as well....

    Here is the link:
    http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...e.php?rci=0000

Please note, you can vote more then once... s if you have a couple browsers you can check them all...

I really appreciate the help before I invest too much time in getting the images running on a large scale!

Great looking kids! Is the one in the middle as mischievous as he looks?

Worse... The photos are actually over a year old (Aug 2005 at Shawnee)

Using Opera 9.02 the third picture behaves as described. The first two do not.

OK, when you open the image, does it open in a new window or do you get an error that would make using the site a problem? Can you describe what it does or does not do with the images that didn't work?

AOL 9.0 SE, and all of the photos worked fine....the kids are adorable! What a great family! I love the test page...we have something to look forward to when we get the resorts reviews going....very impressed!
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I decided to add the second part of what I am working on to the test page...

Note that the top bar is stationary images...

The bottom bar is images scrolling across the page... There are actually six images and I am trying to figure out how I can get the two scripts to understand that fact as I know when you click an image and it opens in the other window it says there are 15!

Now you can see the direction I am trying to go... if I can make all the code get along... I have never tried to work with Java before and that code looks like gibberish to me...

Not a problem using. The images open in a new tab.

Sometimes they open with the background darkened and sometimes with a white border only. Not sure why, still very usable though.

OK, how about the second script I just added...

Do the images scroll for you? The code that enlarges the images is the same so I expect you have the same issues there...

Using IE6, image 3 and 4 are identical. Is that what I should see? Apart from that the navigation works fine and as described.

No, I have an error in the image tags...

                      Try again...

the top bar should have three... The bottom bar has six but says it has more then six...

Thanks again for the kind words!

This is looking positive so I have removed the static images so there is only the moving images...

I really do need any feedback of problems....

I am working to see if I can find an Opera fix but as I said before I can't read the code yet (Need to go buy more books I guess) but looking at the server stats Opera users amount to some 0.3% of our views

It is some interesting metrics for this month:

                            <TABLE class=aws_data borderColor=#ececec cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=1><TBODY><TR bgColor=#ececec><TH width=32></TH><TH>Browsers</TH><TH width=80>Grabber</TH><TH width=80 bgColor=#66f0ff>Hits</TH><TH width=80 bgColor=#66f0ff>Percent</TH></TR><TR><TD width=32></TD><TD class=aws>MS Internet Explorer</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>2859783</TD><TD>80.7 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Firefox</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>248697</TD><TD>7 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Wget</TD><TD>Yes</TD><TD>240607</TD><TD>6.7 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Unknown</TD><TD width=80>?</TD><TD>73215</TD><TD>2 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Safari</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>51952</TD><TD>1.4 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Mozilla</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>29946</TD><TD>0.8 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Netscape</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>22137</TD><TD>0.6 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Opera</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>14061</TD><TD>0.3 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Camino</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>477</TD><TD>0 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>K-Meleon</TD><TD>No</TD><TD>295</TD><TD>0 %</TD></TR><TR><TD></TD><TD class=aws>Others</TD><TD></TD><TD>263</TD><TD>0 %</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

So, I need to focus on the 99.4% of our visitors for now...
