  • New posts number versus what I really have

I've noticed since the redesign of the site that my "New Posts" number is very different from the number of new posts I actually have on my screen when I click on the new posts link.

For example, just now my new posts number says 24 but when I click on it there are actually 5 new posts.

This varies every time I'm on the site. Sometimes the news posts number will be around 150 but there are only around 40 new posts.

I know I don't get every post for groups that I don't belong to but even so the difference is quite large. I didn't opt out of any boards in my user cp. Plus, this didn't work this way before the site re-do. If it said there were 10 new posts then there really were 10 new posts.

Is there something I'm missing out on?

      Vinolover,

Remember that the number of new posts is that, not the number of threads that they are contained in. There may be 1, 2, 3, or more new posts within a certain thread. For example, if there were 3 new posts in 8 different threads, the new posts count would be 24. So when you clicked on the new posts button, you would only see 8 threads.

Definitely hitting the "new posts" link (I don't have a link on my screen that says "today's posts" anymore).

So let me see if I understand. Just now I had a new posts total of 72. When I clicked on the new posts link it showed at the top banner:

"Search results Showing results 1 to 17 of 17"

So what I'm really seeing is 17 threads that have new postings on them. And the total of the new postings for those 17 threads is 72. Is that correct?

Yes and most of todays and yesterdays posts are in the Hot tub under the woot off just started thread. Last I looked there are 125 replies in under 2 days.

Click on "Member Tools" (on the same bar as New Posts) Today's Posts is the first item on the drop down menu.
