• Problem with URLs

I posted a url in a message earlier and instead of getting a link which looked like this: Link

I got a link which looked like this Link (not sure about SFX)

below is the url (with and without noparse tags around it so you can see what I typed).

with noparse tags
Link

without noparse tags
Link

Why is this happening?

Pretty cool, huh? It is a URL rewriting script designed to increase the ease that search engines can index and characterize the site. The impact has already been seen because we are getting visitors from KeyWord searches to a higher degree then the past.

So, in answer to your question, it is a program running at the server level that rewrites the URLs.

QB,

So the software is doing this automatically? Cool.

Will it do this if the link is to some outside website?

Yes and no. I post a link from tug and type in thread. It show as cPanel And the link part become url=http://thread

However, if I just type the whole link like //www.... with http It actually pull the content and make it look really cool.

such as

1999-2007 The Dik experience is over 4 me - TUG Bulletin Board

tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42083 with http and www

so if you do tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42083]Thread[
you get cPanel

I am not clear what you were trying to show:

Following has custom text in the URL:
Custom title here

Following was just the URL:
1999-2007 The Dik experience is over 4 me - TUG Bulletin Board

Try to type something that is not the same as the title between the tag (like this thread or link instead of the same as the url will bring back to display), you will see the result
