Ignore Feature

The problem with using the 'ignore member' feature is that anyone can continue harrassing another member and that member wouldn't be aware of it.

If you are using the ignore feature you won't be aware of what that member is saying about you, therefore you are not being harassed. It has the added benefit that the harasser doesn't know that the harassee(is there such a word) isn't seeing the message. They will just get more and more frustrated that they are failing in their actions, and hopefully stop them.

That's like saying "does a tree really fall in the forest if you don't hear it?" I would rather be aware that my member name was being harrassed and/or maligned in order to take the proper measures.

I'm not playing with words, but harass and malign have very different meanings. To be harassed you must be aware of the harassment. Your name can certainly be maligned without your knowledge. On that point I do agree.
All the same, if I felt that somebody on the board was always generating more heat than light I would put them on my Ignore list in a heartbeat.
