  • Having trouble staying logged in TS4M

I have been having some issues before such as being kicked out after 15 minutes or so and having to re-login or continue browsing.

In the last few days, I have been losing my logged status very quickly, sometimes less than 5 minutes..

I do have a firewall in Nortern Internet Security but I have added timeshareforums to my allowed list. Are there other sites I have to add to my privacy or allowed cookies list?
Traveling Broadens the mind and I want to do more French Quarter Fest in New Orleans is my favourite festival

No, the cookie only works off www.timeshareforums.com (Note the www is IMPORTANT). The only other issue could be any spyware software you may be running that automatically delete cookies...

I don't think there is anything I can do in the settings to fix this as there have been no new settings changes. Please let me know if you see any trends in when you have problems as that might help me figure it out...

I also welcome advise from other people that have problems.

I have the same problem with the PC and Mac. Everything is checked in the little boxes but when I go to a different web site to search something, I have to log in again and don't like it. I don't have this problem with TUG. What could it be? TIA.

        I also have had problems.

My problems were similar, and after complaining a couple of times I didn't want to persue it.

I think I've got it solved now though.

Firstly: I use Opera as a Browser and it's internal password facility.

Secondly: The solution is to log in only through timeshareforums.com.

It is not always apparent that when you log out you start again at timeshareforums.com.

At one point I almost said who needs this.

Strange... I am pretty sure that when the forums were set up we used a unique cookie name. The problem now is that I can't just jump in and try changing it as the resorts database as well as the photo server both use the same cookie.

I will try to push a copy of the website down to a development domain or area and then I can experiment there but I need to know if this happens all the time or just how often.

Do you get logged out when you are surfing this site or are you refering to when you come back to the site after being elsewhere (IE Remember Me Button)?

I made a minor change to the forum code affecting what domains the cookie will affect... I don't think that change should have been needed and I hope it doesn't make things worse...

Let me know if there are any new problems... or if things get better..

Note to self... cookie domain changed from timeshareforums.com to .timeshareforums.com

Lastly, everybody should log in from www.timeshareforums.com (with the www) or I would expect you to have problems.

I put it back as it was before as I got an e-mail from someone indicating they could not log in with the change....

I just can't seem to fix things so that nobody has a problem...

Please post if it was working while the change was in place for those that were having problems OR if you were not able to log in during the change

Right now, I am logged in and I never get kicked off but if I want to insert a link and I click on google in a new web page to find the information and then go back to my original page, I have to log in again. The page was on the bottom of the screen or behind the new page for one or more minutes.

I have more problems yet with the Mac and have posted them here or emailed it to you privately.

Logging in is not a big deal but I don't understand it because I have a check mark in the box.

I seem to be having new issues myself now.. The software is a little tricky and the changes have me a little frustrated as I can't access the admin control panel now... Oh well, no board changes for a while

I will have to hack the database to reset the cookie settings but that will take some time..... very frustrating!
