Disabling flashing
Is there a way to disable the flashing emoticons that others use for their avatar? To me it's like a strobe going off and I can't read the page when the flashing is in my visual field.

Yep, under:
Quick Links >> Edit Options
Just unclick the button that is marked for Avatars and you won't see them anymore! -
Now what about flashing smilies in posts
Got the avatar disabled.
Now how do I disable flashing smilies put into posts? They don't add anything of value and are nothing but a visual irritation.

Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
Turn all of them off if you want a boring look

How to disable smilies when using Firefox Mozilla
Thanks to tug admin for these instructions:
"Firefox browser gives you the ability to disable animated graphics:
Enter about:config in the URL/address bar.
Enter animation in the Filter field to find the right option.
Double click image.animation_mode, change the value as follows:
once - will run once and stop
none - will not animate at all
normal - will run normally.
I'm pretty sure MSIE has a setting to turn off animations also."Comment
