  • TimeshareForums blocked at resort

This is pretty funny and sad at the same time. I am currently at The Village at Steamboat (a Wyndham / Worldmark resort), and their internet access blocks timeshareforums.com. I can get around this by VPN'ing into my work and accessing it from there (hence the post).

Is this common at Wyndham resorts? Does it happen at other resorts? This is the first time I have run into this, and I find it kind of funny that the resort would feel so threatened by an online forum.

I wonder if this is an technical glitch and not an intentional act by Wyndham/WorldMark. I have stayed at WorldMark Southshore and Wyndham Shearwater lately and didn't have any issues with logging into either this forum or TUG.

Its getting more common, it seems to be resort specific, Thay definitely do not like any forums dealing with timeshare,

They have alot at stake with buyers remorse after those tours.

It's probably worth the money for them to filter the TS forums out.

I've not had any problem at any of the DRI resorts I've stayed at. To block a discussion forum speaks volumes of how they really feel about themselves!

Does it block Wyndham or RCI google searches?

BTW maybe we should fight fire with fire and block those resorts here

This might be just a computer problem. It is possible that resorts that are selling units might want these forums blocked.

Can you blame them, your set to go to their presentation and go on line to see resale prices for this resort before hearing their spiel. No one in their right mind would buy from them.

It was definitely not just a computer problem -- the web page came back stating it was specifically blocked by their firewall, and listed the category as "personal blogs". It did allow me to get to TUG, however.
