  • American Airlines versus Haiti Relief Effort

I found the followin link on CNN this morning I think the story warrants a few phone calls to American Airlines:

Airline stands firm on bag policy for Haiti rescue workers - CNN iReport

    From the story

The team tried to pay for extra bags or an extra seat but the airline would not allow extra bags even for a fee and all seats were sold out. Ultimately, the group re-packed all of their supplies to fit what they could and left what they could not carry behind.

Officials at the San Diego International Airport tried to pull strings for the local relief team with no luck.
Look like the plane is full.

There prob. should have some coordinate effort to ship the supply using bigger transport plane.

If they let everyone take whatever they want then AA will be the next casualty and we'll be fishing them out of the Caribbean sea.

Planes have limitations on weight, (at least that's what my brother says and he is an aircraft mechanic).

We had a cargo plane in Miami shift it's cargo and fall out of the sky a few years ago right in front of my eyes. It was such a surreal sight,
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was like watching a movie.

Unfortunately the crew didn't make it nor the cargo.
