    Not to defend bankks

I to have had problems with some banks. Believe it or not, not with the banks most people have problems with. I have been with Bank of America since I was about 5 years old, now I'm 59 and never had a problem. That's just me, I feel very lucky. The banks I've had problems with are smaller and I have since stopped banking with them and moved to other banks and credit unions. I actually use 3 banks and 2 credit unions and right now they are all fine for me dealing with.
I find banks the same as other businesses. I work in a grocery store and see the type of people we hire today and get very depressed by it. Many don't care or have a clue they are just there to get a pay check. Some can't read or write. Luckily we have registers that make change because these same people can't count, add or subtract. It is how society is today.
We have been dealing with a bank that we are stuck with right now that has had us do the same thing over and over and can't get things right. As soon as we finish this current transaction with them we will be gone. Our latest dealings involved many thousands of dollars and if this bank was decent we would keep using them. Two weeks more and we are done. They are small but unable to get things correct. The main person we deal with says to go to her yet she has been the one doing things wrong and causing us to go back and do things over and over.
    It happens.

So, I will pay it off in full, but they managed to get that many days interest out of me. @$$#%/&$

Ah, the new American way of doing business.

By ignoring me, they got an extra hundred bucks, but just once because they'll never get another buck.

        http://moveyourmoney.info/

I haven't seen it yet cuz their server is down cuz they were just on CBS Sunday morning.

They named four ugly big companies using little peoples' money to provide a few big people an extravagant lifestyle. We had been with three of them . . . Citi, BOA and Wells Fargo(Wachovia) . . . and no longer are.

Move Your Money is a nationwide campaign.

their community Credit Union or pay cash!
Here is another good one for you about my account at my credit union. We moved and I sent them a letter telling them this. They must have not received it and refused to send my tax statement. It came back to them and then they sent it to me after saying they couldn't and wouldn't. I also changed my address at work which is supposed to send the change to the work credit union. Nothing works like it used to.

Citicards has certainly changed. I am a longer term customer - but probably not for long any more.

I missed a payment by 3 days in May 2009. My special offer rate skyrocketed. I missed this little bit of action due to very stressful family conditions ar the time, and for several following months (sister in abusive relationship dying of cancer, spouse blocking care). I glanced at the statement the next month and saw Offer 8 was still on my statement with a bunch of numbers after is (like always) and moved on. Well, Offer 8 was there but the interest rate was jacked. I finally caught this just this month. I think it was totally deceptive to report on my statement that Offer 8 was still in effect. Ok, technically it was... but at the you missed a payment rate. And that section onthe top of the statement proclaiming to contain important information regarding your account (that's what they call it) said nothing... nothing but it's regular continuation of sales pitches. It was my fault and I paid the price - and I paid off the balance. The account is still open and I am deciding what to do there.

Citicards Act 2: I have another credit card with them and that too has a balance at a psecial rate... zero until paid off. I just recieved a letter form Citicards saying that to maintian great customer service (HA!) in these times, onthis card, they need to and will implement a yearly fee for the card. The fee will be returned after a certain level of charges on the card is reached. I can of course opt out and cancel the card, paying off the balance in full. Coincidentially, the card I screwed up on and paid finance charges on apparently doesn't need better customer service in these times as will not be charged an annual fee. Gosh, I wonder what is really going on here. I can easily pay off the balance and will do so. I have to decide what to do as far as holding the card becasue if I do I need to charge X amount - which is not a problem either and I can pay it off every month (what I do with the BOA card I use for regular monthly charges, excpet the BOA card is the UPromise card and Citi offers nothing).

On one hand I am pissed at these games. Pissed how a one time slip can be so damn costly. I don't want to reward them by my business. On the other hand I like having extra credit available to me in these crazy times. What if DH did lose his job? Or a major catastrophy happened? I don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face. And we all know you can't get credit when you need credit - you have to have it already.

Citi was great for me when everything was fine. But now it's not fine. And that is why this little person hates the big ugly company.

              Wal*Mart Credit Account

We just use it for the Murphy Gas discount. I just sent them the following via their online message center:

I accidentally noticed our interest rate is 16.90%. I knew that isn't right, so I looked at back statements.

Two statements ago it was 9.87%.

How did that change come about? Why?

              Why were we not notified?

Ah, the new American way of doing business.
So, I was trying to get them to either extend the low-interest, or to quote me a payoff amount so that I could stop interest from running, and at the higher-than-market rate. The delayed answering me, as I stated above.

Here's how this played out . . . I paid the full balance due as soon as they answered. The new statement shows I owe them $57.23, That's 100% interest, the interest that was being added every day they delayed answering me.

& here's the kicker, the minimum payment is also $57.23, and under the new law they have to show how long, and how much, it would take to pay it off at the minimum payment . . . 2 months and $68.

So, there's still interest running, interest on interest.

                & . . . they changed my cash advance rate to a fixed 19.99%

What I want to know is when you're being polite with these scumbags, at what point is it OK just to say, "#&@+ you" ?

                    Subject: Interest Rate
                    Date: March 6, 2010 11:54 EST

We understand your concern and regret any inconvenience. Your account has been reviewed as requested. A payoff is only guaranteed if we sign a specific contract with you guaranteeing that amount. This is because we have no guarantee of when the payment will arrive.

Interest is charged as long as you maintain a balance on the account from month to month.

As a courtesy, we have issued a credit of $67.67 that will appear on your next statement.

                    Our balance is already zero.

                      More Citi

Today we received new cards from Citi, new account, with a note saying their merchant database had been compromised and our credit card information may have been illegally obtained.
