  • PA Casinos Surpass Atlantic City

During December 2009 PA casinos had $2.1 billion vs AC which had $2 billion wagered on slot machines. Pennsylvania has 25,117 slots, compared to New Jersey’s 30,782. AC did take in more money in total because of table games. Now that table games had been legalized in PA, it's going to hurt AC even more.

I went to the Borgata this week for 2 days and it was not very busy. Some of the restaurants that were normally open every day are closed a couple of days each week.

The only possible reason that this happened is cause more families go to Pa during winter recess for Skiing and Tubing. I know that was the reason we went. I also bet that the same happens during Presidents week. I am pretty sure they can not beat AC every month.

How close are the PA casinos to Philie?
and how far is it from Philie to AC?
Do the PA casinos have the nice hotels as does AC - but then when Foxwoods first opened, there were no hotels for a number of years.

I was not impressed at all, Mount Airy lodge and Pocono resorts are no way as classy as AC.

Some of the casinos in PA don't even have hotels. There are casinos IN Philly. There are 3 casinos within 45 minutes of my house. It takes me almost 3 hrs to get to AC.

Frank, I think you're wrong about PA not beating out AC consistently especially once the table games open.

Mt. Airy does have a new hotel but I don't know what the rooms look like. The old hotel was razed. It's actually in a very pretty country setting.

I went to Mt. Airy Lodge for my honeymoon. That was as far as our money would take us.

It is predicted that California will surpass Nevada in gaming revenues in the next few years. Many of the Southern California casinos are larger and have surpassed the revenues and earnings of the largest casinos on the Las Vegas strip.
