Myths, rumors… and Ignorance

Hey you were invited in the G room by me, It is not for everyone and if you did not want it you could have opted out at any time.
As Far as the Tug bashing, I did everything I could to put an end to it so much as to even have a very private Steam room where only members with 200 posts could go there. Every time I moved a tug bashing post there the threads would die out in a day. I myself have no problem with OY, In fact there were times in the past that we both tipped each other off on what was going on. I was also helping moderate on Timesharetalk so my thing was not competition but to help out no matter where I was. I even help out on Face book on some of the travel links there. I stopped helping on Timesharetalk cause it was one sided. Paul at first came over weekly then stopped even though I posted there daily.
Just so you know I still get emails from Tug Members asking for help from my reviews there. I have never turned one person away.
If you had posted once in a while here even if it would have been 3 months ago, I would not have said a word about your post. Now that we said our peace I am willing to move on, You are welcome to post here if you like and even join in on our Fantasy Football again next year.

BTW FYI not sure if you knew this but one reason I am here was cause Tug did not want me, I wanted to be a mod there in the Lounge But Doug must have thought I was nuts cause I did act like a kid at times and was a bit nuts with some of my old posts. I just liked to have fun and Scott and Roger got me to come over when they showed me Bigfranks hot tub forum on Tstips.
I have made a home here where there is some thing for everyone, I try to keep it fun, That is good for some but not for everyone. BTW you would die if you saw any new posts in the G room but we can not talk about what is posted there. I can say it is even more shocking then ever.

I'm sorry you took my post wrong and, obviously, the reason was personal. It wasn't what I said...it was that it came from me.

Since you have made it so personal, I will explain as I think you have misunderstood my participation...and lack thereof...here on TS4MS. I was not some spy sent here by TUG a couple of years ago. I was interested in the site. The reasons I stopped posting were these:

1) I was kind of offended by the Goomba room...if I remember the name correctly. The fact that there would be a private room with adult conversation and links to pornography on a timeshare site was a bit shocking to me. Maybe I was naive...and maybe it's a result of living in one of the most conservative states in the nation...but I didn't expect to find that here on this site. I'm not being critical...just commenting that I was uncomfortable with it.

2) There was a lot of TUG bashing here a couple of years ago. I mean, REALLY a lot. I got tired of that. You tried to discourage it, but it kept popping up over and over again in thread after thread. Furthermore, some people just could not seem to let go of old greivances. Based on posts by you and JLB in this thread, I unfortunately can see that you still haven't.

For these two reasons, I decided to stop posting here and just read. After a while, you told me that you didn't feel it was appropriate for me to be a moderator as I didn't post. I said I understood that. So, I kept reading the site for a while but eventually stopped visiting very often.

Then, when I read Mark's post from here that was copied and pasted by someone on TUG, I thought I would check it out. So, I came back here. After reading the thread, it seemed to me...as it apparently does to Pat H...that Mark would be wise to address his concerns directly on TUG. So I invited him to do so. I also read other forums, and posted a comment about the change in Hilton HHonors points. I was thinking that maybe I should start reading here more often and perhaps posting as well.

After the less-than-warm welcome back, however, I think that perhaps my decision a couple of years ago to stop posting here was correct.

This is a 2 way street. Part of Mark's original post from this thread was copied to a thread on TUG and edited.
SFX bashing on TUG has been going on almost from day 1 when I was the sole moderator on TUG several years ago. Of course some people have complaints because NO exchange company can please everyone. It becomes a problem when people post things that simply aren't true.

If SFX doesn't want to participate on TUG, that is their perogative and I don't blame them.

I would be angered if someone took my words from here and put them anywhere without my permission. Being quoted out of context is unnecessary, extremely inconsiderate and in some cases, just plain mean. Were I Mark, I would view it as a breach of trust with whomever that copy and paster was. I would be more offended by that than the original ridiculousness that brought about his response.

Your last line, I agree. I support Mark's decision to not have anything to do with any site he wants nothing to do with. The trouble all started when he wanted to set right info that was wrong. Being that we're a bit irrevocably joined at the hip with that other site, I don't think it was a bad idea to try to set things straight here. I wasn't a fan of the tone of what he wrote, and the word ignorance seemed to anger people, but I have no problem with the content nor action of posting such a 'response.' I also think it reasonable to expect that there be soem 'floatover' to that other site.

Were I Mark, I would absolutely be leery of addressing any issues on that site at that site. Attacks are common and if you are attempting to showcase your business assets, the last damned thing you want is to be put on the defensive by anonymous internet posters. however, I would likely choose to ignore whatever is happening on that site, having chosen to keep my distance from it.

I do not think it reasonable to expect absolute lack of bad info on the internet. To whatever extent Frank has been able to honor that promise to Mark, there remains a win-win relationship. but outside of teh Ask SFX forum, I don't see that it's manageable to prevent false info presented as facts. People state their opinions and even say "I know for a fact" when they really do not. That's how it is in cyberspace and in person, so people that don't consider the source before acting on info they gather are going on rumors, unless they choose to seek out info from the entity with which they wish to do business.

people are free to believe whatever they want to believe and a business is free to disseminate info to potential customers in whatever way it sees fit. Too bad this spun into A Thing.

I pretty much agree, although there is a difference between trying to avoid false information and intentionally allowing it as policy.

BF has been very generous in allowing safe harbor here to those who do not have TS4M's best interest in mind, and they return the favor by getting ugly when they get their feelings hurt a little, because things don't go exactly their way, say by saying he would be here more but he doesn't hang out with perverts trading porn.

Totally uncalled for, but indicative of the difference between OY and OH.

BF has done a fabulous job from the start of being welcoming and forthright in his intentions for the site. I do not intend to crap where I read but we could at some point disagree about something. This is a nice community. When stuff comes up, it gets dealt with, and it goes back to being a nice community.

I also don't care if there is a special place on this site for porn-related links and discussion. Let's see, hot tub, steam room .... Nude Beach Room!!! People have hobbies ... it has always been at my discretion as to which threads I open.

I don't believe that oy actually solicits/condones/etc., false info so much as that any favored windbag of the week can have their big ole say regardless of its factual content, while editing/admonishing, etc., those who do not agree with WofW's viewpoints. It's not about Facts and mods are not fact-checkers. I would be hardpressed to believe that every mod is All Knowing so I simply will not drink the KoolAid. Like a clique, you are either One of Them or you Are Not. Sidelines suit me just fine. good vantage point from which to watch the sheep ...

As long as we are discussing grudge's, being accused of carrying one as if they are above being human, consider this:

When a person becomes aware that something he has said on a forum may be damaging to an uninvolved third party, so he asks the owner of that forum to remove his posts, and that owner refuses to, merely because of a personal grudge . . . now that is a grudge . . .

& that is all anyone should need to know about that person and his website.

Hey I hate to tell you this but if you are talking 1 or 2 posts that is one thing but the way you carry on and then after posting a 100 posts on stuff that you should not be telling the world expect people to move at a snap. I even told you no way once. I will move a thread but to go one at a time to remove posts is not gonna happen here for anyone. In fact we now have made it that you can now longer edit your post after 6 hours so the threads no longer look like ..............

Seems like when we get an ugly visit from OY, it puts everyone out of sorts.
