The expected snowfall in the eastern US is making headlines on the UK news already. They are reporting forecast falls of up to 2 1/2 feet in Washington.

Looks like y'all are gonna get a really good one.

Bad news is there'll likely be a couple more in the next week. One tomorrow and another in three of four days. We will send them on.

      Good luck.

I do live in a warm area but the weather is not sunny and warm. It is snowing in the mountains around here and pouring rain. That is a good thing as we have been in a drought. It is not good for the people visiting here on vacation.

I hope none of you are planning on visiting California in the next couple of months as February and March are the wettest months of the year and it looks like we will get lots of rain this year. The temperatures are well below normal.

yeah, not above freezing here forecast anytime soon, but more snow expected, that's what they are telling us here too.

ended up with 6" in Indy, some parts north got 8". a school bus didn't make it back out of our street without a tow.

the wind is problematic. the drifting is rendering some roads impassable since plowing gets winded over. some of our flatter farmland interstates have closures. not hearing reports of downed trees, but we've lost many limbs and many more are drooping under the weight. sun is out, so maybe some melting today.

city roads are good here, but, until someone plows or salts or the sun melts some parts, most of us back here will stay put vs doing the ravine slipslide tango. no matter how soft the landing, not into it. plus, we don't know if the way to the main street is blocked by a downed limb. maybe I'll go out tomorrow. today, will concentrate on making a path to the mailbox. about 30 yards from teh door. this crap is HEAVY.

take it easy out there, folks. stretch, pace yourself, hydrate, take rest breaks. we've got all day.

Ang posted at 6:40 - I am on the far east end of Long Island, south shore and it has been snowing since 6:30....very "busy" snow but maybe only a 1/2 inch.
By busy I mean it is very windy so we have all this stuff swirly around and whipping around corners but the volume is low.
As opposed to peacefully fluffy falling snow - this snow is going all around and sideways - like it was in a blender!

About 1 1/2 feet on deck railing, a little less on the ground. Snowing on and off this Am. DH flattend driveway with seveal trips in his jeep. He's out walking in the snow. I'm staying in and hibernating. Plus I'd be the one to fall and break my hip. rinking lots of hot chocolate.

Looks like a 10 " right now, and still going strong.

This morning when we already had 8", there was nothing 20 miles north of us, and nothing at the GWBridge, about 40 miles away. Saw the northern roads on the TV weather and realized how big a difference a few miles can make.

KayH, you're really getting socked with it.

Heck, we don't even have enough on the ground for decent sledding. My son is incredibly jealous of his DC cousin.

A: Three months of bad sledding.

It must have stopped snowing right after I went to bed. We got 1" at most. It's dark and gloomy but not snowing. Another storm is predicted for midweek but this one will be north instead of south.

Kay, you should be drinking Bailey's instead of hot chocolate.

so we in Central NJ are supposed to get that one too -- lucky us, a part of the southern storm, part of the northern storm.

                                seems to have stopped here.

KAY:: or a mix of hot cocoa and Baileys or cocoa and kahlua... hmm...... i may be on to something here
