I just saw on CNN.com that there is snow on the ground in 47 states.

And the 3 states with no snow are?? My guesses - Hawaii, Alabama & Louisiana?

I dunno! I went and looked, but they didn't say which. I figured Hawaii, and after that, not sure. A lot of the usual suspects ARE getting snow--Florida and Arizona...

Well Thank god I have Satellite with DVR programs that were recorded and not watched yet cause my Satellite is now searching for a signal but I have a feeling the dish is snowed in.

Ours does that when it's covered with snow.

When we lose power and run the generator, DISH is one thing that we have running.

Baltimore broke a record for the most snow in a season...

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, 11.9 inches of snow had fallen since Tuesday at BWI Baltimore-Washington International Airport. That brings the total snowfall since December to 73.3
inches and is the most since record-keeping began in Baltimore in 1893.
The previous record from 1995-96 was 62.5 inches.

Baltimore typically doesn't remove the snow it plows to the side of city streets.
But this isn't a typical snowstorm. This is (was) the Blizzard of 2009 - 2010.

To get as much of it out of the way as possible, the city has decided to pick it up and move it.
Baltimore City Department of Transportation crews are dumping snow in several parks and
parking lots around the city, including Druid Hill Park and the famous Pimlico Racetrack.

Twenty-four hours a day, dump trucks will load snow that will be
hauled off to Pier 5, and dumped into the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

D.C. breaks record for season snow total - Weather- msnbc.com

WASHINGTON - Winter-weary East Coast residents were digging out Wednesday from the second of two blizzards that pummeled the region and gave Washington its snowiest season on record.

In Washington, snow fell so hard that people on the National Mall could not see the Capitol. Many in the region were still without power from the historic storm over the weekend, and even more were expected to lose electricity.

"I have never in my lifetime seen or heard anything quite like this," said D.C. Fire Chief Dennis L. Rubin, who was born and raised in the District.


The previous records for snowiest winters were 62.5 inches in Baltimore in 1995-96, and 54.4 inches in Washington in 1898-99. As of Wednesday afternoon, Baltimore had 72.3 inches so far this winter and Reagan had 54.9.

In Ramsey, N.J., as of 5 p.m. ET, 14 inches had fallen during the latest storm.

Treacherous roads
In Pennsylvania, the governor closed large stretches of three major highways because the second major storm in less than a week was making travel too risky.

That was too late on Interstate 80: A total of 50 vehicles were involved in a series of pileups there, with fatalities and multiple injuries, NBC News reported, citing the Clearfield County Sheriff's Office. At least 20 people were taken to the hospital. The highway was closed.

Across the region:

Airports in Washington canceled all fights, while Philadelphia's airport had limited service.

In Chicago, airlines canceled more than 300 flights, mostly to East Coast destinations.

Airlines canceled hundreds of flights at New York-area airports, and the city school system's 1.1 million students enjoyed a snow day — only the third in six years.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said it cost taxpayers $1 million for each inch that fell.

Baltimore officials ordered all vehicles off roadways, except for ambulances, police, fire and snow plows to use roads.

In Pennsylvania, Gov. Ed Rendell shut down four major interstates due to blizzard conditions. Interstate 80, Interstate 83, Interstate 81 and part of Interstate 78 were closed.

Heavy snow collapsed part of the roof and a wall at a Smithsonian Institution storage building in Suitland, Md. Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. Thomas said they don't believe there was any damage to artifacts from the National Air and Space Museum, but officials were unable to go inside because the building is unstable.

In Chicago, a pickup truck plowing snow backed into and killed a 71-year-old woman. Police say Yuliya Polzikova was crossing a street Tuesday when she was struck by the truck as it backed out of the parking lot it was clearing with a plow attachment.

'I've seen enough'
In the Washington area, the storms have kept some workers and students home for the better part of a week. About 230,000 federal workers in Washington have been off since Friday afternoon, when the first storm began. The U.S. House announced it was scrapping the rest of its workweek. Several hearings and meetings in Congress and federal agencies were postponed, including one planned to address Toyota's massive recalls.


But the effects of the federal government's closure were negligible since about 85 percent of federal employees work outside the Washington region. An IRS spokeswoman said tax returns should not be affected.

"I've seen enough," said Bill Daly, 57, as gusts of wind and snow lashed his face in Arlington, Va., where streets were nearly empty just a few days after people had been playing in the snow.

"It's scary and beautiful at the same time. I wanted to shovel but thought if I had a heart attack it could be a while before anybody found me in this kind of weather."

Thousands remained without power from the last storm in parts of western Pennsylvania, Maryland and other areas. Utilities said deep snow was hindering some crews trying to fix damaged power lines even before Tuesday's storm arrived.

I did not know about Heroin being called Snow, I always thought it was just Coke.

BTW If anyone hears that they are closing the Schools please post it, WE lost our TV so we are missing out on the news.

Frank according to the NBC News article I posted the city schools will be open tomorrow....if I hear differently I'll let you know.

We have a 2 hour delay here which was just announced via phone and text.

No snow in Miami! but it did flurry here three weeks ago! It was amazing. Everyones car had frost, the trees were covered in ice. It was beautiful.
