  • Another snowstorm coming this way!

Can't believe we're going to get another snowstorm. Last night, the Poconos got 8 inches of snow. We were lucky, it was just a big mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain (made driving home fromm work quite the adventure ). Starting tonight, it's supposed to start snowing and not stop until late in the day Friday. The forecast totals are mixed. We may get as little as 8 to 10 inches or as much as two feet. We're in a terrible rut with the snow! And it looks like this is nothing compared to what's expected next month. There a fellow in Berks County who's part Native American. He's been predicting weather most of his life, with a 90- percent rate of accuracy. According to him, the "grand-daddy of all storms" is supposed to hit this area on March 7. Snowfall total predictions range from 2 to 4 feet!
    So tired of the snow!

Well my ankle has been howling for the last two days non-stop so it will surely be an adventure. They keep changing our totals. Here is our local meterologist's take:

      ROCKLAND COUNTY WEATHER FORECAST

      Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Today: Occasional drizzle this morning, mostly cloudy this afternoon. High: 35-40.

Tonight: Cloudy skies; the chance of light rain after midnight. Low: 33-38.

Thursday: Rain mixed with snow through early afternoon, changing to all snow in the late afternoon, windy and cold. Snow accumulations 1"-2" by early evening. Windy during the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Snow, heavy at times, windy and cold. Low: 25-30.

Friday: Snow tapering to snow showers and ending by late morning. Total snow accumulations 3"-5" along the Hudson River, to 6"-8" west of the Palisades Parkway, to 10" in Suffern and west of route 202. Mostly cloudy and windy in the afternoon. High: 30-35.

I sure hope they keep the higher levels west of the PIP. I am just east of it.

We did? It didn't seem like that much but it was a heavy wet snow.

All I want to do is get out of PHL on our 3:00 PM flight to Dallas on Fri and then on to Puerto Vallarta. Gee, we're supposed to come back on Mar. 7 wonder if we'll be stuck in PV?

That would be a nice problem to have.

Even if we get the minimal amount of snow, there are supposed to be hurricane force winds with this storm with gusts of 40 to 45 MPH. Some areas are warned the gusts could reach 70 MPH. If I didn't have kids in school I'd be heading to the Carribean to wait out the rest of the winter!

I'm still not dug out from yesterday and today's snow and it looks like more tomorrow. This was the heaviest snow I've shoveled in years.

I think I'm keeping the kids home tomorrow, whether it's a snow day or not. I'm in Bergen County, but not in the "higher elevations."

I was supposed to go to work in NYC...guess that's not happening either.

I don't think LI is getting as bad this time, although we are getting the high winds. I'm afraid that I'm going to loose my electricity. I usually do.
