No Oscar watching tonight

Cablevision has not resolved its dispute with ABC, who has pulled itself off the air. So there will be no Oscar watching for me tonight.
Cablevision has offered to give free on-demand movies for today, and provided links to watch some of it online. It just won't be the same...

Yes, I have a friend in Westchester who said she got an e-mail this morning telling her to go out and buy an antenna if she wanted to watch the Oscars! She was saying that should work really well--three million people trying to buy antennas.

We have Cablevision too...but we get more than one ABC channel (we got the one for New York and the one for Hartford) so it seems that we still get ABC Hartford (WTNH) but not ABC New York (WABC). I guess it's a local and not a national thing. The whole thing is definitely bizarre though, with each side seemingly trying to hold the other side hostage.

It's local. We can watch, because we don't have cable, and if we did it would be Time Warner, not Cablevision. But thanks for the invite--I could probably make it by 8:30 if I ran out the door right now!

Well I just found out that it's may not be on the Hartford ABC channel. Or maybe that channel isn't airing ABC stuff anymore. Right now there is a Barbara Walters special on there so not sure. I would have thought there would be pre-Oscar stuff on.

Regardless, we also have Direct TV on two of our TVs, so we can still watch it. So the invitation stands!

Cablevision was my very least favorite vendor when I handled competitive access management for the entire northeast. I refuse to have them in my house. Truly obnoxious company.

Okay, we are indeed getting the Oscars on channel 8 (ABC Hartford) in Connecticut.

I don't know what other TV choices there are around here besides Cablevision that are reasonably priced. We do have direct TV, but it is so expensive which is why we only have it on two TVs. (H wanted it for sports.) I guess there isn't enough competition in this industry.

Saw they settled while watching the Oscars when they flashed a banner script on the bottom of the TV.
