When you shell out thousands of dollars knowing full well that your return will be pennies on the dollar.........

When you are willing to be slapped with a SA knowing you can't do a thing about it but pay ..........

When you are willing to pay ever increasing maint.fees and know that more fees are to follow.......

When you know you may never get rid of it and no one in your family wants the darned thing........

When you sign up years in advance to trade knowing you may not ever get it after joining a club to swap then having to pay to swap on top of that.......

When you watch the place go down hill and loose all hope of parting with it..

When you draw your last breath and you are still thinking of the day you went to that 90 min. meeting........

When you realize that this type of vacation is for you and that it meets your needs, screwy as they are.

So I guess in our 23 years of timesharing, we have never become addicted even though I can answer all the questions the OP and others posted. However, I do find this thread very amusing and quite fitting for many people.

I understand that he was left in a basket on the steps of a timeshare as a baby.

                This would explain a lot.

I can sure identify with that. None of our family wants our timeshare. Not only do they not want the timeshare but I offered to give some of my excess banked weeks at SFX for free but they didn't want them so I ended up selling 8 of them.

Our timeshare owning days will be coming to an end after next year when I will sell it or get rid of it somehow. We are going to stay at our home resort for the July 4th week 2011 in San Diego and then that is it. There are just too many good options that better suit our preferences.

                        John,
You'd be my pick for leading the 12 Step Timesharing Addiction Program and how to throw off this addicting behavior !

Some people will just never get it. I have the same problem with Disney.
None of my family will go willingly anymore with me to Disney unless of course it's my dime.

How wonderful that you have the time and your health to do all the things you want to. May you have many, many happy years ahead and memories with your grandkids!

You own 37 weeks at the same resort and stay there rather than buying a house!
