  • Bermuda summer '07

I'm posting this here because I know I'm not getting a TS exchange to Bermuda in the summer. However, my wife and I are looking to go July '07 to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. It will just be the two of us and a Monday night to Thursday night would be just fine.

Does anyone happen to have any suggestions? We don't need "fancy" and are open to hotels, timeshares, or a private home/condo. I checked www.vrbo.com but it is very limited. Also, while a cruise seems ideal, it's not something we are considering.

We will probably rent a scooter to get around and are interested in some sight seeing, the beaches and a little scuba diving.

Thank you for any suggestions as I try to plan ahead.

I'm guessing you already tried redweek.com? There are St. George rentals there for July. Don't know how good a deal the ads are, or if the renter will split a week, but I thought I would mention it in case you hadn't gone there.

If we have another hurricane season this year like we had last year you just MIGHT get that trade to Bermuda.

May as well put the search in. Can't hurt.

Wow! Great find Lawren. Unfortunately, (or should I say fortunately) we will be in a 3BR poolhouse at the Houses of Summer Bay, Orlando that exact week. It's nice to see that there's always a chance, though.

I've been looking throught that rental website and there is certainly a lot to choose from. I just wish someone was able to give me a recommendation.

Call it a "hunch". I really do try to not talk thru my hat when it comes to someone's chances of getting an exchange if I can help it. Although at this point with RCI it's hit or miss with something like this one, St George is sporadic at best of times. Like I said it can't hurt to have an on-going and check ex-ops or on-line search it.

Nice! I think one of those houses may be the only way I would ever go back to Orlando.

Wish I could offer advice on the rentals but so far we have only rented homes on St John USVI. The experiences were all very pleasant ones. The company we use does not manage any Bermuda properties though.

So if you want to consider Tortola or St John instead let me know.

PS We will be in Brigantine Beach that week. My B-I-L has been haunting me for Bermuda...

as an additional aside and completely off-topic addition to this thread I just love the origins of phrases. To "talk through one's hat" means to talk nonsense, to pontificate on a subject one knows nothing about, and to make ludicrous assertions with unshakable confidence.

St. John is defintely on my list but for now it's probably way off in the future. My three children are 6 and under and since we do not want to be away from them for too long, we figured that Bermuda would be the best bet. I appreciate all your help, though.
