  • Sad news to report

I just received an email from Jan, Conchman's wife.
Ron passed away last Saturday from pulmonary fibrosis. He had been short of breath for several weeks and was diagnosed shortly before he died.

She said to tell you how much he enjoyed all the people he met on the boards and in person.

Conchman was a great guy, lots of fun and always willing to help out.

I will share my Conchman story.

He came to help me with my computer.

Our subdivision has a lot of the same homes, but I thought he knew where we lived.
We had the garage door up and were watching and he sped by on his bike, silver ponytail flying. But he didn't come in. A short time later, he buzzed by on the bike again. What did we do to offend him?!? About 5 minutes later he came roaring down the street again. I went outside and saw him pulling into the next cul de sac. Waved him down and he came over and helped.
He gave me strict orders to use Ccleanser, disk clean up , etc. In fact, I was just going to email him because I couldn't remember how to find the disk clean up.

The last time we saw Ron, he had a short ponytail. he had donated his hair to make wigs for cancer patients.

Jan said she will be going north to Ohio for a memorial service and will eventually move up there to be close to family.

That is very sad news, Pat. He and I emailed occasionally and I remember him well from the meeting we had down here a few years back. He kidded me about being neighbors in Ohio (didn't know him then) and then again down here.
Please let Jan know she and their family are in my prayers. RIP Conchman.

Ron drove to Key West while we were staying at the Galleon. He showed us around to the places the locals go and we had a great time. It was like we had known him for years and we had literally just met. RIP Conch Man, glad that we met.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Oh no this hurts to hear this. I met him in person a few years ago in Florida with my wife and close friends and both my wife and my friends wife loved him right away. I gave him some on best cigars to smoke which he enjoyed. I was hoping to meet up with him again a few weeks ago when I was in his area but I did not hear from him, now I know why, Ron you were loved buddy.

I am very saddened to hear of Conchman's death. He was always fun, and I always hoped that one day we would meet in person, not just here on the boards. My thoughts are with his family....he is missed and will continue to be missed.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.
