Wine.woot started off with tempranillo. I had put myself on a moratorium; I've got a lot of Spanish and Italian reds coming in from WTSO in the next month. I put a bunch of stuff on hold until the weather cooled, and I also cleared some room to store incomings.

But I'm a sucker for nice tempranillo and sangiovese. And I just opened my last bottle of temrpanillo this evening. It's an OK bottle of cheap tempranillo, but in drinking it I was reminded of how much I enjoy tempranillo.

Then there was some good stuff, right there leading off the wootoff. I'm proud that I only wient in for three bottles instead of six or nine. I had six bottles ready for the "confirm" button, and then just before I clicked I remembered how much other stuff I've got coming in and changed my mind.

I couldn't figure out why my wootalyzer was giving me odd number of messages, so I cleared them out. Then I got another and figured out what was going on. I already missed a panini maker.

I bought those T Rex 12 foot HDMI cables. Worth much more than $3 when you need them, Almost bought that tooth brush zapper for $7 but I did not cause I know my wife would not want thar silver egg

so far the only things that have gotten me are the Twisted Oak Tempranillo and the Pedroncelli Dry Rose. The Pedroncelli is really for DW; I almost popped for it when it was there before; IIRC, I held off because we were in the middle of a heat wave.

I've generally built up immunity to the main woot site. Wine.woot is a bit more of an issue for me. If they (and WTSO) would simply cease posting such great bargains on wines I really like, my wallet would be ever so much happier.

But this wine.wootoff has gone much better for me than others. I've really only been tempted on the two I've bought, and I've only done single orders on those. I actually have built a bit of resistance, but perhaps that's just because I'm running out of juice storage room.

And the screaming monkeys are now up on regular woot, meaning the wootoff is over. Flashing lights still up at wine.woot, so I'm not safe yet. wine.wootoff could continue for some added offerings.

But I have been a disciplined boy - no need for any Goumbette spankings. My SIWBM was challenged by the Uvaggio, but it held. Then it was challenged by the one of the WTSO offerings (an inexpensive and fine QPR Spanish offering that I"ve previously ordered) but it held again.

But I think I've been able to resist mostly because:

1. I have almost no space to store more wine, while having about two cases arriving over the next several weeks now that summer is over (WTSO offerign that I put on hold until temps cooled down)

2. My everyday drinking wines are <$10/bottle. And I have more than enough good wine in reserve to get me through Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and other occasions when I break out the "good stuff".

So right now I think my defenses will hold as long as WTSO doesn't come up with an irresistible and inexpensive Tempranillo or wine.woot doesn't reprise the Noceto Sangiovese offering.
