  • Why did it have to rain SO hard?

Watching the Ryder Cup, particularly on Friday, and I have one big regret - the fact that it rained so hard play had to be suspended. It would have been hilarious to watch the USA team have to play in waterproofs provided by a British company and displaying the European team logo.
Maybe it's something to do with association with the name Pavin which causes people to screw up so thoroughly and totally, from failing to introduce one of the team, to having the 'Captainess' choose the (not very waterproof) waterproofs, and various gaffes in between.
Let's hope we have some decent golf, and a proper result, by the end of Monday. By 'proper' I mean all games being played to completion rather than a load of games being halfed because of the cutoff time. Can you imagine how either team would feel if they were well up in the final couple of games, those games would give them the win, and they ended up not completing??

Not sure there is much interest in the US any more .It was pushed out of the calendar to make way for the Amex competition last week . Oct is much too late for such a competition in these isles.

Having an affinity to Payne Stewart, I have been moved by replays of the 1999 US comeback, just a month before we lost him.

I'm afraid you're right Gary. It's bad enough that events like the Olympic Marathon are run at the hottest time of day to suit US television, but destroying an entire competition because of other US interests is appalling. I can't stand Nick Faldo, but he was absolutely right in decrying the move from mid September to October in the UK for a major golf tournament.

The US team did a pretty good job this time round too in the comeback stakes. It was good to see a closely contested match and some great golf. Tiger seems to be back to his golfing best. Thankfully the end result was good (for this side of the pond anyway )

It was on constantly where I work.

I recall hearing the Golf Channel say that live coverage started at 3 AM here.

If they were really catering to the US tellie, would they have not played at night, so we could watch it live here?

Did I mention I have an affinity for Payne Stewart?
