Pat, don't beat yourself up, it's understandable.

Don't kick yourself when you're down! I hope the furniture will turn up sooner or later--I suspect it will. They're just taking their own sweet time about it.

            Hate Movers

We had a completly different of circumstances with movers that were only moving our big items a few blocks up the same street. They tried to hold the player piano for ransom. They won.
We then contacted DOT and the AG in California along with the Better Business Bureau. We never got a response except to fill out paperwork which we did. About 18 months later after lots of other complaints we were asked to fill out paperwork to help another person in their case. Never heard another word.

A couple of years ago there was a story about an auto transport company that was transporting cars from NY area to Florida (Snowbirds for the Winter). They took all the cars and hid them (in a barn somewhere) and held them for ransom. Eventually the people got their cars, but I don't know the entire story. I know this won't make you feel better, but wanted you to know you are not alone.

These stories are awful. Are all interstate movers just a bunch of crooks?

Pat, tell us what moving company did this, they deserve internet recognition.

It's All American Van Line in Orlando, FL. The drivers all have NJ cell phone #'s. The address on their quote is 7101 South Orange Blossom Trail
Orlando, FL 32809. When you run the address it shows Safari Motel. I'm actually going to Orlando on Wed so i will be stopping by and taking pictures. Seems the DOT license # says they are only authorized to transport automobiles. Isn't that interesting?

Unreal. In addition to the AG's office(s) in PA and FL, you might also try the Orlando DA's office (maybe your county in PA too). At a minimum they might be able to trace your check if they are interested in the case.

The check was cashed in NJ and it wasn't even made out to the company but to an individual. The driver told me he was going to put the payee on with a stamp and took it out. He stamped the paperwork but I was busy so I never noticed that he hadn't stamped the check. Maybe a case for the IRS also.

I'm thinking about you. Have no solution except maybe get television or newspapers involved.

Just what you need at this time It's a shame that so many take ad
advantage of unsuspecting honest people. Hope you get your furniture soon.
