I find this so sad. Wish there was something we could do.

Aww, thanks for the support and hugs. It's always nice to have them when you are stressed.

Wacky, I don't think the address is where someone lives because it sounds like office noise in the background when I have talked to them.

According to delivery driver as opposed to pickup driver, my stuff is in his storage in Orlando. Geez, it's only a 5 hr drive. Why can't he just deliver the stuff already??

Pat, if you really think there's an office for the company in the mall attached to that building, I can go over this weekend and look.

Otherwise, could you file a claim with your homeowner's insurance for the lost furniture? Maybe the insurance company could light a fire under them.

Yes, that's the pizzeria in the little mall at this building. There are several other businesses in that mall. Plus hundreds of apartments. Honest, Vintner, I pass this building every single morning on my way to work. It's huge.

Wacky, please don't waste your time going to the address but thanks for the offer. Got a call from the driver saying that he thinks he can be here tomorrow (Really??). Then he asked me to call the company and bug them so he can get paid but to tell them he said maybe Sat/Sun. I also asked the company for a refund and the manager is supposed to call me back, yeah, sure. Gee, my life will be so dull when this drama is over.

The phone number you've got is a cell number? Can you do a reverse lookup on the number?

Yeah, I don't think there's much point in going to the Galaxy. Unless I'm going to pay off a doorman for information or something, and I'm not so good at cloak-and-dagger stuff.

If he's telling you to lie to his boss, why would he even hesitate to lie to you. He has no personal connection to you. That says a lot about the driver. That's a huge clue to his character.

Unfortunately I think we have a pretty good idea of the character of both the driver and the head of the moving company already. They're scum.

                        Aww Pat

You're caught in stand off. I must have missed that part. **If** the driver is telling you the truth then your furniture is being held as ransom against the driver's pay. I am in no way standing up for the driver-but he just wants his money like you just want your furniture and he is now enlisting you to help him get his pay. The whole thing stinks....and I hate cell phones. Hard to trace. Do you know the driver's name? Do you know any professional "locaters" from your former job that could help you find HIM..the truck...your furniture?

Pat, if this moving truck really shows up, I think I would make sure someone else is there with you so you are not alone.

Funny you should say that. Today I asked my neighbor to come over when they came. I also want to get the license plate # on the truck.

P.S. Ann-Marie, I found a great furniture place today and ordered a sleeper sofa. Good price too.

Pat...you should probably also plan for what you will do if the furniture is damaged. Or not your furniture. Or if some of it is missing (have a copy of your itemized bill of lading ready--probably a good idea to file the original and use a photocopy).

I don't know what you should do if any of these situations arises, but it would be a good idea to have a plan.

Have you tried calling the police in Orlando? Do you have an address or any info on the location? Your furniture is stolen goods at the moment, so if it's in a warehouse in Orlando, the police could seize it, couldn't they? Have you filed a police report?

I have followed this thread with much horror. Pat, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I think they think they can get away with it as you are a single woman. Little do they know who they are dealing with!! This truly sucks. shaggy
