yeah... bigfrank...that's partly why he's still up there. Did you know ground hogs are related to squirrels? They graze on clover and love fruit and vegetables. When I was catching, them the best bait was apples and cucumbers.
Moles are different buggers. They eat grubs. Best way to be rid of moles is to kill all the grubs hiding under the grass eating the roots. The moles will relocate looking for grubs someplace else.
Sorry don't know about pocket gophers. Are they the same as chipmunks?

Nope, pocket gophers are underground and push up mounds of dirt. Striped gopher would most resemble a chipmunk. When they crawl, they are very low to the ground where a chippy doesn't drop down. The striped will stop, then stand up to see what is going on.
My front trap has caught 1 striped and 2 moles. Nothing this morning.
No new mounds yesterday, will check again today. Maybe they moved on already or the poison did the job already.
We had a ground hog couple years ago. The poor dog went nuts when it the ground hog would sit on the front steps and the dog would watch it through the window.
Another time we had a possum under the deck. That was interesting getting the dog away from that critter.
Oh, and neighbor is going to put up the final section of the fence.Don
