  • accident injury claim

I was in an accident about 3 years ago and the case has been settled. However, the lawyer is now saying he has extra costs and will end up having to take half of the settlement and only give me about 1/3 after paying the rest for hospital bills. (Looking back on the contract it said he'd only take 25%.) He just wants me to sign something and write me a check. Something doesn't feel right about this. Is this legal? Am I being outfoxed? What do I do.
    So please mail me ishwar@seomajesty.com

Usually those contigent fee contracts are written where the lawyer gets a percentage as a fee and also gets reimbursed his out of pocket expenses, such as the cost of a court reporter to take a deposition. You need to read the contract (ask for a copy if you did not keep yours) and ask the lawyer to document all out of pocket fees he is asking for reimbursement for.
