  • Who does Black Friday?

I don't, personally, since I'm not keen on crowds, shopping, and certainly not getting up early. I'm a terrible disappointment to the retail industry.

But there is SO MUCH advance hoo hah, I just wondered, who is doing it, and if you have already decided on Your Plan??

I'd also like to know, what was your Biggest Score Ever?? And of course, once it's over, I'll want to know what your best was This Year.

I never do Black Friday or any other days when there are crowds. My time is worth far more. I shop on-line and do my in-store shopping always on December 24th.

I enjoy Black Friday shopping, but I don't do anything crazy like spend the night in line at Best Buy. I'm always up early, but sometimes move it up to 3 AM instead of 4 on this day.

I was unhappy last year when I arrived at Office Depot at 4ish and found them already sold out of the computer I wanted. They are THE worst to NEVER have any of their sale items in stock. I no longer shop there.

I arrange to go into work three hours late on the day after Thanksgiving and do as much shopping as I can on the way in. I usually do pretty well.

This year I'm looking for a smaller Canon camera to carry in my purse (love my current one but it's too heavy to carry all the time), a vacuum for my daughter who is up to two pets, a new television, and a computer monitor to replace an ancient one. I always stock up on things like blank DVDs. If I'm successful, good. If not, I'll keep watching the online sales.

I love going shopping on Christmas Eve! It's a long-standing tradition of mine, even if I'm done with shopping. My brother starts and ends his shopping on Christmas Eve.

I rarely shop internet or catalog, I like going to the stores. Just not at Prime Time.

Ha, yeah, I think it's nuts to wait outside in the cold for hours. I will never need a bargain THAT badly.

Interesting about Office Depot! For me, it's Best Buy I don't trust. Years ago I found they did bait and switch FREQUENTLY and offered worthless rainchecks (they will never call you when the item shows up, if it ever does...) . No clue how they do on Black Friday. dropping the ball on that day could be very painful for them.

          Good luck, Sheila!

I have already been looking at the online back friday ads. However, I only go into Menards (midwest Home Depot type store) to look for goodies. I can always use more clamps for my woodworking projects.

              not me. uh-uh. no way

The internet was MADE for me personally so I would never, ever have to enter a retail environment again if I so chose. Maybe it was the crammed in like a sardine rushhour for 20 or so years.... I'm still trying to figure out how to successfully order shoes without trying them on.

Good luck to all the psychos. May you get what you want/need this year.

Nope. Spent too many years in retail to think this is "fun" in any way.

This has been a tradition for me for the past 30+ years. My son and I would start on December 24th by having breakfast out at a restaurant and then doing our shopping. He lives in Texas now with his own family. I have continued the tradition but now do it with my daughter. We eat breakfast at Mimi's and then hit the mall across the street. My wife does her own shopping for the grandkids, family, etc. She spreads it out starting in October but NEVER does the Black Friday thing for the same reason as me.

I shop a lot on-line but only for items that I know exactly what I want.

Went to Target one year. Was one of the first ones in, got the LCD TV from the back of the store with my shopping cart then stood in complete gridlock for a good 15 minutes. I literally couldn't move an inch! I vowed never again.

Clearly we're related. I have been shopping online since people were afraid to do it. They'd ask me-what do you buy? I don't understand. Why would you do that?

They bring the stuff to my door-that's why.

Once, I was in Best Buy looking to buy a computer..and if you can believe this-no one offered to help me...so I looked up the computer online from THEIR computer in the store and saw what I wanted-they didn't have it at the store-so I went home and ordered it online...free shipping...on my doorstep a couple days later.

My daughter can't stand that I won't take her to the Mall..but she does know how to get on a website, put the items in the cart, scan the internet for a promo/coupon code and then call me in to finalize the order. It's all in the training

No Black Friday for me ever, ever, ever!

Another "no way no how" here.

If I must shop live in person, I wait until the Macy's near me stays open til midnight, then I go around 11 pm and have the place to myself.

The past few years I've managed to do almost everything online except the tree.

And my kids are good at sending me links, too

I won't go so far as to say "no way" but the likelihood is very small. I like my sleep too much! And dealing with crabby people isn't fun either.

Almost as bad as Black Friday is I usually take MIL and DD to the Sawgrass Mills Mall (South FL outlet mall) during the run up to Christmas. Place is PACKED, no parking spots - and if you find one it's entirely likely some a-hole will zip in it even though you were waiting with your blinker on the whole time the other car was backing out. Ask me how I know! Argh! Anyway, despite the crowds and stuff we have a good time just being girls for the day

I do like to shop on either the 23rd or 24th as I am in such a good mood by then that no one can bring me down and any negativity I meet (people or not finding things, or whatever) just slides right off me. It also gives my DH a chance to wrap gifts with DD, which is a great time together thing for them to do.

BlackFridayshopping is a tradition at my house. We start Thanskgiving evening looking at the ads and then deciding where to start. We're usually out of the house by 4:30 (one year was 4:00 because the local K-Mart opened at 4:30), but home by ab9out 7 or 8, long before the crowds get too bad. I avoid Toys 'R Us and Best Buy because those stores have hoardes that camp out all night! Ironically, we rarely buy anything because I have found the sales to be better before then. We love to watch the crazy shoppers - some come dressed in their PJs.
