  • Spoiler Alert! Dancing with the Stars - What is Going On?

I can't believe that Bristol Palin has made the final 3 and Brandy was voted off tonight. Where are all these votes coming from for Bristol? She should have been voted off by week 3 because she was so terrible. She has definitely improved but now 2 of the 3 best dancers (Audrina & Brandy) are gone. Ruins the whole season.

Well my favorite, Brandy, is gone. I also liked Rick, but who am I to know.

It's not a dance contest anymore. The two weaker dancers made it to the finals. They need to figure out how to correct the problems for next season or this show will implode.

People shouldn't be that surprised when the best dancers don't always advance. My take is this show is a lot like American Idol. Yes, it is a dance competition, but it's also most definitely a popularity contest--who is the most entertaining. That's certainly why Kyle Massey is still there. If it were strictly a dance competition, they could do away with the audience vote and rely strictly on the judges--but my guess is they wouldn't have near the audience that the show enjoys.

I also think people enjoy watching the contestants improvements from week to week. If we are to factor this into the voting, then IMHO, I'm not surprised at all that Bristol Palin is still there, although some political junkies would argue that the tea party vote is the reason for her survival.

I guess I view this first and foremost as an entertainment show, pure and simple, and hence can't take anything about it too seriously. The world won't end even if she somehow manages to steal that Meri-ball (sp?) trophy from either Jennifer or Kyle.

Isn't Sarah asking for people to vote for her daughter? Politics, I think, because it surely isn't her dancing, though she is better than she was at first. Brandy should have taken it all, and I too hope that something will be tweaked to make some adjustment next season.

Sad. Bristol made it far longer than she should. I'm thinking it's more than kids voting here but maybe I"m just too cynical.

I stopped watching this show before mid season. I didn't like any of the dancers.

This show, more than others, does not necessarily reward the best dancers.

It is really a popularity contest. We voted 20 times Monday night for Bristol. The reason is that she started with absolutely no dance or entertainment experience. Jennifer is a professional entertainer as was Brandy. Jennifer also had considerable dance experience. We were completely turned off by Jennifer's constant whining. I also like Kyle. You can't help but love his personality. The contestant's professional dance partner also affects the public's voting.

DTWS is for entertainment and is not a legitimate contest. In a true competition ONLY the judges should determine the winners. Let's face it, if DTWS was serious about dancing they wouldn't have 80 year old contestants.

We have watched DTWS since the first year it started.

I haven't even watched last weeks show because I saw Bristol made it to the finals. I have no problem with who is let go until the finals and then they should have only the good dancers. I agree that it is popularity but this is the worst season I have ever seen! I hope they decide to change the scoring so this won't happen again. I am not mad at the show or stars but at the public for making a contest into a joke.

The judges also have some responsibility when they give 9's and 10's to the less accojmplished dancers. It does seem a popularity contest with them when they say what a great "entertainer" Kyle is. So maybe the title of the show should be "Entertainment with the Stars".
