I used to be able to drive a manual transmission - guess it is like riding a bike, once you know how, you don't forget. Congrat's.

          Thanks for all the Congrats.

Tried to go twice, without the clutch.

I'm a learnin' (again), but I got her home.

A neighbor has given a $11,950 offer. I'm inclined to accept.

You will pay tax on the amount on the 1099-MISC. It is added to your income and taxes as such.

The offer from the neighbor sound like a good, fair offer and as long as he is also paying to retitle and license the vehicle, if it were my car I would accept the offer.

You don't want this car; you wanted a different car and this will give you the funds to set aside the $ for taxes next January and still have a nice down payment on the car you wanted.

                  Don't suppose it's a right hand drive? .

It's just what I'm after - a low purchase price, low cost to run, zippy, little, easy to park car. Ticks all the boxes.

                  Wish I lived close by.

Here, the roads are laid out to where this left hand wheel can be driven on the right lane of the highway. To drive it in the left lane would be hazardous to many.

My Rio is 5-speed stick shift. Is that any problem?

You might wish to live here.

When we come visit, I'll let you do the driving.

None whatsoever, I own 2 manual cars and actually prefer them, so much more fun to drive through the hills around here. More economical too.

                        You're on. Come on down.

The NEW (66 miles) Rio sold for $9000.
I finally (yesterday) received a 1099-MISC listing $13900 in block 7 (Nonemployee compansation).

Can anyone point me to instructions which says I am justified in paying taxes on the $9000?
I wish to write the rest off as a loss, but haven't found the instructions for doing such.

I have to say this car gets unreal gas mileage. I have a rental for the last 3 weeks, I started on a half tank, I am now on just below a quarter tank after 3 weeks. I would normally have to fill up my wifes car after 2 maybe sometimes 3 weeks, My car I used a quarter tank in just one day doing city driving.
