Frank mapquest says it's about 5-1/2 to 6 hours.
    I'm shocked too.
Seems like it took me longer driving over those bayous
    maybe because it's windy roads.

They are not alowing for the bottle neck traffic that is in Florida. I have been stuck near Jacksonville many times

LOL, true they don't take those minor details into account and they also don't take into account mountain driving which always seems to take twice as long as it says on mapquest.

Mapquest's estimates assume that you are going at the maximum speed for each road, the whole time you're driving. They don't take actual conditions into account at all.

I drove from the Orlando airport to Bluffton, SC in Oct. Took me exactly 5 hours! Bluffton is the I95 exit for HHI. Jacksonville is only about 2 hrs and it's 3 1/2 hrs to Daytona Beach.

Ah you say in Oct. No way you are doing that in Summer or on a Holiday like Xmas. IMO it will be a nightmare since many flights are canceled and because of that many more people will be driving. Also factor in the roads once she is up north.

Sharon please keep track of your times to SC HH and to home. I am wondering how long this will take.

We are in Florence, South Carolina right now at a hotel.

It took us about eight hours to get here from Orlando. Very little traffic, except in Orlando.

This was the easy leg of the trip, I think! We will see how it goes from here.

We are taking it slow to allow time for meals and some down time. Unfortunately, my youngest ran out of contact lenses and forgot to bring her glasses with her so we have one kid that can't see very far! We've also run out of one of the Rachel's medicines and no local pharmacy has it...fortunately she can skip it for a couple of days.

I know all of the airlines are a mess at the moment, but it was pretty amazing to me that Continental wanted to reschedule us on five separate flights, even though we have a 12 year old and another child with medical needs who really needs parental accompaniment. (We even called the disability line and explained that, but they could not do anything except offer us a flight on January 2nd which would allow three people together and the two singles on two other flights.) I'm sure not having status on Continental didn't help of course.

We are spending the night in Maryland (north of Baltimore) and will be home tomorrow.

So far, no snow to speak of...I'm wondering when we will start seeing the tons of it! How are the roads up in New Jersey and New York?

Thanks to all for your suggestions and offers of help! This has been quite the adventure!

It won't melt by tomorrow. The wind was worse than the snow.

Roads are fine up here. You shouldn't have any problems until you get to your driveway! I hope it's plowed out.

Main roads are fine here in Central NJ, sure they turnpike will be ok for you as well.
Local roads and sidestreets are still quite the adventure.

I drove yesterday twice, Main roads were moving but there were cars stuck at exits and cars stuck in the middle of the road plus there were accidents all over. I had to bring my sons GF home around 3 am and the roads were clear but there was still major accidents. I think today should be better as long as you stay on the main roads. Side streets are still bad.

We are at Newark airport dropping off the rental car and picking up our car. Traffic is bad in New Jersey. We hope to be home in CT within the next couple of hours. The airport seems very crowded!
