It bothers me a bit that you give no information as to what exactly transpired Sunday night.
What did the two mechanics do on Monday that allowed a high speed test drive? Did you then drive away OK? How far and for how many minutes?
You say the problem happened again on Tues and Wed. What exactly happened on these two days? How long did it operate (the first time) each of these days before that light came on? The time between the light coming on and "dieing", was that always the same or did it vary considerably?Robert

I am updating 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid with the current status. Your comment is appreciated and includes what we are looking at.
A Service Manager at a Ford Dealer in Oregon suggested checking air filter for Hybrid Battery, that coolant fan for Hybrid Battery is working and the electric water pump for the hybrid battery.
They obtained the correct technical service bulletin in Spanish late today and will be following the steps indicated tomorrow. The last step requires removing the Hybrid Battery which is very heavy and will require borrowing the equipment from the Ford Cancun dealership.
Apparently there is a known issue regarding the Hybrid Battery that was unknown to us. We believe the Hybrid Battery could have overheated, possibly blown a fuse or needs additional wrapping around wiring under it because it might have been jostled hitting so many topees (Mexican Speed Bumps) on our drive from Placencia, Belize (Southern Belize) back to Cancun/PDC and this caused the problem.
Once we identify the cause, we will hopefully identify the part(s) needed and get them to someone arriving in Cancun via plane to avoid having them go through international customs then shipped to Ford/Mexico City then Cancun.
Thanks again for everyone's comments. We really appreciate them.My Website Link Oked by BF

Ford PDC/Cancun contacted Ford Dealer Support in Mexico City to obain more information on diagnostic codes.
Our friend in Oregon called her local ford dealer's service manager and emailed: "He said that it is probably hot and dusty where you are. He said the rear filter from the battery (hepa) heats up and causes the Hazard warning lamp to come on. Clean out the filter. and it should be ok. He said this touble is something that happens quite abit in hot dusty weather. Maybe you drove through some dust in the hot weather."

When we drove from Belize City to Placencia on December 18 we unfortunately took a short cut that locals said would save time and ended up on dusty unpaved roads for five hours. So this suggestion makes a lot of sense.
Friday, December 31 - Ford PDC/Cancun communicating via email with our California Ford dealer regarding diagnostic codes. Codes obtained at Ford PDC/Cancun do not make sense to California Ford. Ford PDC/Cancun suggested we find a Spanish speaking person knowledgeable about a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. Ford PDC/Cancun does not have diagnostic equipment for it and they NEED a Service Manual.

They KNOW if they need a part it will take a LONG TIME. So once they identify the part, they suggested we find someone flying to Cancun from USA to Canada to bring it. This could save the time waiting for a package to clear Mexican customs from US/Canada even if we have it shipped FedEx/DHL/UPS etc.
Tuesday, December 28 - Same problem with "Master Vehicle Electrical Hazard Warning Lamp" coming on AND car stopping within minutes. Monday mechanics had day off so we waited for Wednesday.
Monday, December 27 - Two mechanics at our resort that take care of the resort's vehicle fleet got the car working fine and we took it for a test drive. It was an overcast and cold day. Now (Jan 3) that we believe the Hybrid battery could be overheating this might be why it worked on December 27.
Sunday, December 26 evening this problem first occured:
Master Vehicle Electrical Hazard Warning Lamp comes on within minutes of starting car. Indicates Hybrid component fault/failure that will cause the vehicle to shutdown or fail to start. (Page 16) owner's manual. My Website Link Oked by BF

Thanks for mentioning Ask Questions, Get Answers from Experts ASAP | JustAnswer . We actually used Ask Questions, Get Answers from Experts ASAP | JustAnswer for a question on our 2000 Saturn and I forgot about it as a resource. I just asked a question and paid for the flat rate to ask about Ford for one month.

You say, “Now (Jan 3) that we believe the Hybrid battery could be overheating this might be why it worked on December 27.” I ask, why did you have no problem until 26 Dec. Were there no hot days before then?
Did you find “the rear filter from the battery” to be pretty well clogged up?
Running the vehicle (first time of the day), how long before that warning light comes on? Is it ever only one minute (before overheating occurs?) Has anyone checked the coolant temperature at that first shutdown?
You say it was December 18 when you drove on dusty unpaved roads for five hours between Belize City to Placencia. But this problem first occurred on December 26 evening. Was there anything significant that took place between your arrival at Placencia on the 18th and the problem on 26 Dec.? That was a full week.
Did you fuel-up? How close to empty was it? Did you get a FULL tank?
Monday, December 27 - Two mechanics at our resort that take care of the resort's vehicle fleet got the car working fine and we took it for a test drive. It was an overcast and cold day. *** You say they got it running*** What did they do to get it working fine enough for a test drive?
Did you drive it to the resort, figuring the problem was resolved? How far was that? You affected no bad wires on the test drive nor the drive home!!! The battery didn’t overheat and shut you down.
Tuesday, December 28 - Same problem with "Master Vehicle Electrical Hazard Warning Lamp" coming on AND car stopping within minutes. Monday mechanics had day off so we waited for Wednesday.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone checked to see if the coolant temperatures are above normal operating limits?
I would disconnect the fuel line and run some fuel out into a container to check for contaminants. Also check the fuel filter(s), but I'm sure those mechanics already did all that.Robert

the trouble codes you listed seem to be in the wrong format .usaully its a letter(p for powertrain) + a 4 digit number.the tsb link i listed has a procedure to check the water pump function.that air filter you mention could be removed and cleaned by blowing backwards(from the clean side) with compressed air.after that clear the codes, test drive, recheck for new codes.i would be interested to know where that air filter is located .i know the hybrid battery in under the rear floor and rear seat.if you do clean the filter i would still replace it when you get in the states.hope you get it fixed

Did the vehicle undergo the Ford Recall in September/October 2007 for the hybrid battery. See if you can get a Carfax report on your vehicle.
I'm picking here, but check for a bad connection at the alternator, the battery, PCM, etc...Robert

The Check Engine Light (CEL) DOES NOT come on. A Ford Service Manager in Oregon familiar with cases of "Master Electrical Hazard Warning Lamp" mentioned that since CEL does not come on, that all indications are that the problem is with the Hybrid Battery.
No, we did not know about the Ford Recall in September/October 2007 for the Hybrid Battery. We were traveling and our mail was forwarded to us in Singapore but maybe they toss the Ford notice thinking it was junk mail?
US Dealers checked the VIN.

RE: Master Vehicle Electrical Hazard Warning Lamp comes on within - JustAnswer
Service Manager in Mexico thought his mechanic would work on our 2007 Ford Escape this morning and said we could call or come by at 12 noon. We did and found out the mechanic had a family emergency so Ricardo is waiting for Ford Cancun to send him a mechanic.
I posted a question on Ask Questions, Get Answers from Experts ASAP | JustAnswer and saw the answer below a few minutes ago. Does this answer make sense. Does Ford have the software required to reprogram the "battery control module (BCM)" mentioned when Keith wrote:
"The problem is the battery control module (BCM) needs to be reprogrammed as the same problem will be there even after the harness is installed. I don't know if the dealers there have the software capability to reprogram the BCM, you will have to find out."
You have received an Answer!

Hi JACUSTOMER-a3ytvra-. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer.
I am not certain what your actual question is but from my experience ( I work on these often) for code POA27, the main battery will need to be removed and disassembled and service harness 7M6Z-14A303-B will need to be installed. The problem is the battery control module (BCM) needs to be reprogrammed as the same problem will be there even after the harness is installed. I don't know if the dealers there have the software capability to reprogram the BCM, you will have to find out. I remove these batteries all the time without any special equipment, just 2 people lift rear of battery and set on 2x4 to prop up battery then slide back and lift out. I usually set it on a bench to disassemble.
For the P1A10, This is just a sister code to the POA27 indicating the battery module is signaling a concern to the powertrain control module. Once the harness is installed and the BCM is reprogrammed it will take care of both codes. Click below for removal instructions for the battery. I follow all these steps except the engine crane.
The instructions for battery disassembly, harness install and reprogramming are included in the harness kit 7M6Z-14A303-B.
If the vehicle had recall 07B48 performed then the recall harness should be removed and the kit harness installed. I doubt it was done because usually this problem never occurs if the recall was performed.
